The Barack Obama who stood on the debate stage in Denver Wednesday night was virtually unrecognizable to the person who swept to victory in 2008 or even the man who had built a narrow-but-clear edge in the 2012 race. In the wake of the debate, Democrats conceded that former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney had dominated the proceedings and quickly moved on to a deeper and harder to answer question: What the hell was wrong with the president?
Theories abound up to an including that Obama, who had done debate prep in Las Vegas, struggled to adjust to Denvers altitude. (Not kidding. That is a theory espoused by none other than former Vice President Al Gore.)
Below we take on a few of the likeliest reasons for Obamas out-of-character performance culled from conversations with Democratic strategists and our own observations. * Hes not used to being challenged: For all of the chatter that President Obama loves to surround himself with people willing to disagree with him, the truth of the matter is that being the leader of the free world means that what you say goes pretty much all the time. And, being challenged by staff no matter how senior those staff might be is not the same thing as being directly confronted by someone at your level and who wants your job.

I personally have never thought him to be a particularly good speaker. Compared to Bush or McCain sure, but only only TotUS. Off TotUS, he’s a blithering idiot.
His laziness extends from his arrogance.
He believes he’s good enough that he doesn’t have to work hard.
“Because he sucks?’’<,. Yup, he certainly does suck. Obama sucks big time. He’s the suckiest thing I ever saw suck.
Love is blind. Sorry, America.
Not that he ever worked before.
I’ve wondered the same thing about that tape - it in itself wasn’t THAT shocking to those of us who pay attention - maybe the worst thing to me was the fake accent - but the timing of the release had to affect Zero.
As bad as zero was last night it’s hard to imagine he’ll be better on foreign policy. The ME is burning, countries with policies he favors are crumbling, he’s being endorsed by dictators because he opposes fracking....and on and on...
Why anyone ever thought the coddled inexperienced community organizer who refuses to show his records - especially school records - would even understand economics and be good at one of the toughest jobs in the world is something I’ve never understood.
First, Romney must be made to bow down to Obama because after all Obama is the President and Romney is merely a (former) Governor.
Second, Obama needs more time than Romney. This is because Obama, being a creatively gifted, right-lobed man, tends to say “um” and “ugh,” as his unprecedented genius gathers all the relevant information and carefully constructs the proper, nuanced and balanced response.
Third, Romney shouldn’t be allowed to use “facts.” Anybody can look up facts, nowadays. Therefore, knowledge of facts does not qualify anybody to be President. What is important isn’t what the facts are, but how you feel the facts should be.
Fourth and most importantly, nobody should ever “correct” the President. This might undermine the authority of the office. Ordinary people might think that the President is himself an ordinary person and not their better. How, then, could the government “ask” the people to take advantage of the opportunities it offers them to serve others through military conscription, forced “voluntary service,” and the patriotic duty to pay taxes?
Navy corpsemen. Your Honor, I rest my case.
Mitt was like a computer. The facts on small topics were pouring out of his head. I chalk it up to the fact he never killed his braincells with booze, caffeine and smokes.
Meanwhile Obama looked like he just came tripping out of Choom Force One with a serious case of the munchies and no clue as to why he was there..
He was told to touch on the talking points (education, free stuff, mediscare) and to filibuster, which is what he did.
All he did last night was fall back into weakly constructed philosophical arguments. That's all he had because that's who he is. A Marxist true believer who has gotten by in life and has been resolutely protected by a fawning, corrupt MSM. Obama was simply unmasked last night.
Quite.....in his own words preparing for a debate is "a drag"....lazy so and so.
They were willing accomplices in the creation of the 0bama myth, and like 0bama himself they came to believe that myth was a reality. One of the central tenets of that fabrication was that 0bama was untouchable, unflappable, invincible.
Now they are faced with the disintegration of their delusional belief system.
But another aspect of this that too few people have understood is how much last night's debate was like the first Carter/Reagan debate -- not for the media, but for ordinary Americans. If you were alive then, you know that despite Carter's dismal performance in all areas, foreign and domestic, the race was still close. Then the American people got to see Ronald Reagan as he was, without the distortion of the media's lens. He wasn't a crazy person, a dimwit, an extremist or a bomb-thrower. He was a charming man of humility, intelligence, humor and common sense.
Some of us knew Ronald Reagan, Ronald Reagan was a friend of ours; and Mitt Romney is no Ronald Reagan. But he is not the bumbling imbecile that the media has so far been able to portray him as. Last night people got to hear Mitt Romney without the braying of the jackasses in the collaborationist press.
And that is going to have far more serious consequences for Barack 0bama than his own abysmal debate performance.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR "SORRY FEELINGS" ON HIS ILK. He does not feel for you.
Correct.
When he is speaking extemporaneously, he babbles, gibbers, and sometimes reveals his true character in very embarrassing ways.
When he is reading the teleprompter, he has a weird, robotic tone and strange cadence that does not match the meaning or sentence structure of what he is saying.
The whole "0bama is a great speaker" meme is a pure democRat media construction; it has no basis in reality.
When Romney answered, you could tell that he was drawing upon years of experience and knowledge.
When Obama answered, you could tell that he was repeating rehearsed talking points.
Romney was able to further each topic with additional examples and facts.
Obama would quickly run out of memorized talking points and would start repeating himself. He doesn't have the deep well of personal experience to draw from.
After the third time that Obama tried to say that Romney would raise the debt by $5 trillion and Romney shut him down for a third time saying "Stop saying that," you could hear Obama mutter "Okay."
Obama looked like a man who only attended two Cabinet meetings in 2012, and skipped 2/3rds of his daily briefings.

Well said.
“Why was President Obama so bad?”
He has accomplished nothing, zero, zilch, nada. Coupled that with the fact that he is not truthful and is a Marxist /socialist>
1. He lies.
2. He hates God.
3. He took the Sacred Oath of Office and forced God to witness to his lie.
4. He cursed himself.
5. He got the democratic party to remove both Israel and any reference to God in the platform.
6. His people verbally denied God three times in the face of the world with no remorse.
It would be safe to say that God is in the process of removing any support Obama may have had because of his office.
Painful truth.
