And so begins our annual 7th TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot.
Thank you humble gunner for the graphic.
TexasCowboy (aka COB1) was a true Texas gentleman, great friend, patriot, and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. It is truly an honor to continue a tradition he started many years ago, hosting shoots for FRiends around the great state of Texas.
Many FReepers are coming into town on Thursday so that they can have a tourist day on Friday. Those lucky people are going to be made (a good) miserable Thursday evening by enjoying TheMoms Kick Ass Enchiladas.
The only set tourist place is The Lady Lex.
Friday evening we will meet at Captain Bennys, 103 Fulton Beach Road Fulton, TX 78382, at 8:00 p.m., for a delicious seafood dinner. (They do not take credit cards or serve liquor ~ so remember to bring your cash & booze.)
Saturday morning we meet for breakfast at Alice Fayes, 910 North Fulton Beach Road, Fulton, TX 78358, at 8:00 a.m. The shoot is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. at, Schwenkes Gun & Pistol Range, 4407 FM 1069 Aransas Pass, TX, 78336. Mr. Schwenke has reserved the 25 yard shooting station for our group to use as home base. The only major rule at this range is do not shoot the livestock. A BBQ lunch will be served at 12:30ish.
Once the shooting is done some of us will be going to the Rockport Seafair, while others will go back to the Pelican Bay cottages for some R&R. Saturday evening will be filled with yummy junk food and margaritas!
According to the forecast, it looks as the weather will be perfect. Lows in the mid-sixtys, highs in the mid-eightys.
I like that there is a fire pit are & it’s right on the river.
Not so sure we will be building a fire in June though.
Looks like we went there in 2010:

Thanks. It was very nice as I recall...and no range nazis!
We were at Dietz in 2010 (5th annual). That was the place that had the flooded pistol range.
Hey, when you’ve blown up every good gun range in Texas, it gets hard to sort ‘em out.
Are we a tab bit impatient? LOL
Roger that. I remember, except for the mud, that it was a great range.
Hell YES!
I want ta book a couple cottages before they are gone...
LS, the mud was S.A., where hi-heels don’t work so well...
Love it!!
I think Dietz had some mud especially around the pistol range...which was a small lake. Not AS bad as S A, though. :)
How does June 8th sound?
Excellent!
Just put that in concrete!
Might as well put up a plan’n thread too...
I’m guessing June 8, 2013 is a week before Southern CA school graduations, so that I can attend and go onto to graduations in time.
BUMP!!!!!!
Very basic, but necessary, plans have been made. The date for the next shoot will be June 8th, 2013 and will be held at Dietz Gun Shop and Shooting Range, providing we get the OK from Mr. Dietz.
Staying in the Pelican Bay cottages this year was a stroke of genius, so we will again be staying in cottages. Cypress Creek Cottages looks like a wonderful place and is where we will be staying. There are only twelve cottages at this place, so I recommend that you make your reservation early. NOTE: They require full payment at the time the reservations are made.
Making it a three & a half day weekend will be the plans for many of us, that way we can enjoy the area and have lots of porch time.
The Friday night dinner & Saturday breakfast places have not yet been decided. Saturday after the shoot lunch will be provided by our own chef ~ cpdiii.
One of these weeks I will put up a planning thread with all the above info, plus any other details needed.
My thanks to mylife, penelopesire, LuvW and BuckeyeTexan for their help in getting these basic plans going.
