President Obama may not be as skilled an orator as he is thought to be by the media, but he is not as inept as he came across in the first debate. I believe he purposefully stumbled. The stammering, the lack of focus, at one point bumping the microphone were in my opinion a carefully constructed act. I believe he is trying to set the stage for a knock-out punch to his opponent in the next debate. From now until then the media will focus on Obama and his need to have a strong showing. If I am right the question is will Romney be prepared?

Put down the crack pipe and step away from the keyboard.
Why on earth would you strain to come up with some fantasy reason why last night was not exactly what it appeared to be, i.e. a man of real accomplishment schooling an affirmative action puppet?

Winning is winning, losing is losing.
A rope a dope strategy does not involve taking solid blows to the face to fluff up your opponent's confidence. Would you coach a football team to allow the opposition to easily score a couple touchdowns, so that they will be over confident? No.
The truth is that Obama is that bad. He is lazy, arrogant, and unintelligent. He has had HIS ego fluffed up his entire life, HE is the one that was overconfident
Outcome? The entire country watched while Romney ate his lunch. What is he going to throw out on foreign policy, "The SEALS got Bin Laden"? He can only say that once without sounding like a 5-year-old, and knowing Obama, he will first say it within the first 20 seconds.

What America got last night was a front-row look at exactly what a successful CEO is...in total command of a multiple of topics with the research and facts to back up his positions and the confidence of character to deliver. Add the smiling face while driving the knife deeper and you get the accurate CEO portrait.
The over-whelming majority of Americans, freepers included, never have the chance to see this type of individual in action. Last night they got a glimpse of what this type of person can do and why they are so valuable.

Between affirmative action, an IQ I’m guessing is below 110, and his HIV cocktail of meds, I agree with your assessment.

I do believe that Romney's handlers are under no illusions that they should underestimated the tricks that they could play or pull on Romney or the Republicans, no one here thinks that... we would not put anything passed them.
That is not the discussion here, his performance in the debate, and his D.N.C. speech could be seen as the same thing.
Things that happened in Benghazi and the aftermath, and all the lies to the American people that this Administration told does not bode well for them and the news of Congressional hearings are coming up this week or next week.
Richard Nixon didn't rope-A-dope his way out of Watergate, rather he was forced to resign from office.

People in North Carolina, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Iowa, Ohio, and Florida are voting RIGHT NOW!
Then maybe they'll all finally learn the lesson that early voting is a HORRIBLE IDEA! One of these years we're gonna have a major scandal break or a candidate die after early voting is underway. Then what?

OK, I've had some coffee and mellowed out a bit. Sorry for being so harsh.
But, I realized it can all be summed up easily:
There is no rope. Just a dope.

There is a major difference between “oratory” (at which Obama “is” excellent), and “debate”, where Romney is superior. The latter requires the ability to marshall facts,”think fast on your feet”, and not “lose your cool” under attack. Qualities Obaama lacks.

Isn’t it also possible that Obama was completely unnerved by Romney’s performance?
Of course, this just means Obama will sharpen his argument for the next debates, that’s all. Doesn’t matter now anyway, In my opinion, first impressions are the most important. There was a lot of hype and lot of expectation for this debate, there won’t be for the next two.
Damage is done. Obama is toast.

I think we saw the real Obama last night. No wonder we have never seen his college transcripts.

You may be the only one.
Rope-a-dope is usually to set up and is followed with a blitz. Nobama just tried to rely on “cool”, except cool does not trump substance, ‘cept in da hood.

I think Obama really is that inept without a teleprompter. He doesn’t dare let the real Obama loose in public. Hence his uncertainty.
On your side, though, Obama has lowered the bar significantly for the next debate. If he performs better the Democrats will call it for him.

Actually barry cannot really do any better. The press has sheltered him and it was obvious yesterday. When was the last time he was challenged. Going on the view and letterman just doesnt cut it. Eye candy for sure
