In a debate with a friend who intends to vote for Obozo, I asked her: "Why?" Her answer: "Because Democrats support the poor and Republicans only support the rich and business." My response: "Given that Democrats controlled the Senate in all years but 9 since 1950 and the House for all but 7 years, do you really think they want to end poverty or control the poor through handouts?" She said: "They want to end it." My response: "A report out last summer showed that there is more poverty now than ever before, in both absolute and relative numbers, and that Democrats have controlled things for almost 60 years, don't you think maybe it's time for a different approach?" No response, so I asked: "As for business, doesn't a rising tide lift all boats? How many poor people have given you a job?"
She walked away...
Actually, there are two reasons: the one you are thinking of and the second is the hope that, sometime, somewhere, I’ll find a critically thinking liberal who still has enough neurons firing to engaged in meaningful debate. So far, it’s been tough to find any who will even listen.

Enable v. Tough Love
The usage of the word support is as euphemism for the word enslave.
The Democrats enslave the poor more than the Republicans. The war on poverty was a grand scheme for enslavement. It is now carried on into the third generation of slaves.
I have a few ex-friends
I hope it is for other reasons beside politics. I think if it is you are losing an opportunity. The reason is that Reagan, and many other conservatives were Democrats at one time and changed their thinking probably through friends and other folks who over time convined them to see the light.
I’ve done as much with a lib - shown them the communist manifesto and asked them to tell me what the difference between it and the democrat agenda was.
They said something to the effect of implementing it differently, ie, not by force like the evil communists did, but like the good democrats intend.

My discernment tells me that any agenda that promotes the centralization of power is simply building the kingdom of Satan.
He will rule a one-world government with a one-world religion under his control.
Now... which ideology is working toward this goal and which one is resisting?
Amen amen amen!!!

“Because Democrats support the poor and Republicans only support the rich and business.” Given that Democrats controlled the Senate in all years but 9 since 1950 and the House for all but 7 years, do you really think they want to end poverty or control the poor through handouts?” She said: “They want to end it.”
My response is always:
Do you believe that politicians act in their own self interest to hold onto power? Answer 95% of the time: “yes”.
Then I ask; Since that is the case, how would it be a benefit to Democrats if there were fewer poor people? Wouldn’t that cut into their power base? Shouldn’t Democrats then want there to be as many poor people as possible? And since Republicans are for the rich, wouldn’t it benefit them to make sure there were as many rich people as possible? I mean, how could they win an election otherwise? Assuming your premise is true.
Interesting way to come at it...
