House Homeland Security Chairman Peter King (R-N.Y.) tonight called on U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice to resign from her post in light of comments she made regarding the nature of the attack earlier this month on a U.S. consulate in Libya.
Rice, whose name has been floated as a potential replacement for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, told NBC and ABC on Sept. 16 that evidence at the time suggested the attacks that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were "spontaneous." Since then, President Barack Obama has indicated the attacks were, in fact, planned and are being considered "a terrorist attack."
"I believe this was such a failure of foreign policy message and leadership, such a misstatement of facts as were known at the time, and for her to go on all of those shows and to in effect be our spokesman to the world and to be misinforming the American people and our allies in countries around the world, to me, somebody has to pay the price for this," King told CNN. "I think we have to send a clear message and on such a vital as this, where an American ambassador is killed, whereby all the accumulation of evidence at the time, the presumption had to be it was terrorism. ... To rule out terrorism, to say it was not terrorism at the time, to me, was a terrible mistake to make, whether it was it was done intentionally or unintentionally, to show the significance of that, I believe [Rice] should resign.".......

Just a point in fact: Being an ex-aviation Sailor on an amphibious flight deck, a CH53 (Sea Stallion) is indeed a military work horse to transport Marines and even some small vehicles/armor. Air Force C-5's are used for the bigger stuff. Early CH-46 (Sea Knight) and similar design CH-47 (Chinook) are for Marine infantry transport.
A CH-43 is definitely a military aircraft and used to be the largest helo in the world...may still be. It's rotor-wash almost sent me over the side of the flight deck once upon a time.
My apologies if I'm wrong on designations but the controversy of this downing was that they should've been on the military armored version, but only the civilian version was available, or so goes the cover story. Would they have loaded this many SEALs into one vehicle? Mades no sense to me at the time.

No apologies needed. In fact, I didn't know there is a civilian version of the Chinook. Yes, MH-47 is another version of the same platform, but I don't know what the difference is. I'm working on old experience, so I can be wrong.
As for the SEALS being shot down, I haven't read anything anywhere about any conspiracy, but still believe it was shortsighted to put so many SEALS on one aircraft. Sometimes, the bad guys just get lucky. That was an incredible loss. I mourned for days for my Shipmates. I worked with them at Coronado and helped load them and gear on the helos on the USS New Orleans (LPH-11).
They are the best this country produces, along with Marine Force Recon, Army Ranger/Delta, Air Force Combat Controllers (also loss on that helo) and other covert forces. BTW, CIA also has many spec ops combat operatives, but they never get any credit due to their clandestine nature. They get a star on a wall and nobody ever knows who they are or how often they put their lives on the line.

I think the SEALs were 'traded' (like New York City for the bombing of Moscow in the book/movie) for Bin Laden so the Muslims wouldn't come after der reader.
Jarrett was supposed to stop the operation (as she had done in the past, more than once), and I think Panetta did an end run around her.
When it was a done deal, the WH had no choice but to claim 'credit', but that wouldn't appease DuhWon's masters.
Maybe the ambassador discovered direct links from the Administration to the MB in North Africa, (in fact, the whole "Arab Spring") of arms trafficking, money transfers, etc. Supposedly, he was investigating such.
Somewhere, there may be some very valuable information if it hasn't been sequestered and/or destroyed, but the message has been sent, even relatively high profile people can be murdered in plain sight.
I am puzzled about the lack of visible and audible outrage from the citizens of this country.
Perhaps I saw outrage on Fox’s ‘The Five,’ so good for (some) of them. Otherwise, it’s fairly shocking and disappointing, IMO.

The correct and true word that should be used is ‘assassinated,’ somebody had the Ambassador assassinated and left him & his team to the savage dogs.
