Before that straight-ticket vote check out YouTube (MSM calls out candidate - High Noon reporting)

.....Any voter considering pulling a straight Republican lever should be aware that the party's nominee for Harris County sheriff is apparently ready to deploy his deputies to keep federal forces from seizing the guns and ammo of Constitution-loving Texans.

In a video posted on YouTube,an interviewer asks former Liberty County Sheriff's Deputy Louis Guthrie what role the local sheriff's department plays in preserving our constitutional rights.

"Let's say the feds come in here and seize weapons and ammunition," he theorizes. "I don't have any issue with me or any of my employees…they WILL stand between the feds and the citizens should they try to violate constitutional issues, constitutional rights, here in Texas."

Surely,Guthrie wasn't suggesting that local deputies would turn into a local militia - a la Lexington and Concord - to fight the redcoats?

'Fast and Furious' plot?

In a telephone interview,Guthrie explained his comments. "As a constitutionalist," he said, he would "use whatever authority I have to stop" someone violating the constitutional rights of a Harris County citizen. He believes the "Obama administration clearly has weapons and guns in their sights." (In his taped interview, he speculates at length that the true purpose of the controversial "Fast and Furious" program was to build a case for gun control by planting Texas weapons in cartel strongholds.)

But he sees "a world of difference" between his remarks and Head's, Guthrie: "I am not saying they will attempt by force to do so. Let's hope there is not a confrontation."

He assured me: "We will go by what the Constitution says. If anyone attempts to violate our constitutional rights,I will definitely get between the citizens and whomever it is."

So while Head is preparing for a bloodbath, Guthrie was engaging in a little saber-rattling. A "Come And Take It" moment,if you will.........

These quasi-columnist-news writers/propagandists certainly are filling the "pages" of state media. Opinion is reported. News is opinion. I really wasn't sure where to pigeonhole this Front Page Houston Chronicle "Latest News" article by a "Columnist" for the "News." She notes where the video is and to fast- forwarding to the 4:30 mark to the stuff about Obama and Fast and Furious, so as to "come to your own conclusion." She takes a shot at Gov. Perry by repeating an untruth, then wraps it up with a civics lesson about the Constitution, and that judges decide which laws are constitutional. She absolves herself and the Houston Chronicle by saying she's noted a Democratic Party candidate's claim to fame is barratry. She promises more is on the way about Louis Guthrie and teases the story.

If Obama wins, Texas may become our Gault’s Gulch—a heavily armed Gault’s Gulch.

"judges decide which laws are constitutional"

Yes and no. Yes, courts are supposed to rule on the constitutionality of laws. But, no, they are not the only ones to do so, and their opinion is not superior to yours or mine. The oath I took did not say that I would support and defend the Constitution "as defined by the Supreme Court."

NULLIFY!

Is this supposed to be bad publicity?

This is exactly the sort of sheriff every county needs and every citizen should want. If this is “bad publicity”, the problem is not with the press but with the citizenry.

This is the sort of thing I like about local law enforcement folks, the closer they are to the voter and local community the more apt they are to be loyal to the local citizenry in times of crisis.

Whereas LEO’s farther away from a local community, the feds, are more apt to be loyal to the ruling party, political correctness or their job security instead of the Constitution and the tax payers.

It’s obvious the Fed-loving nancies at the Chronicle think that a sheriff standing up FedGov is scandalous, but EVERY CANDIDATE for the office of county sheriff in this land ought to be asked: are you willing to interpose between the FedGov and the citizens to protect their civil rights, including the RKBA?

I haven't read the Carbuncle (or Comical, take your pick) for many years. I won't even take it for free when they're giving it away at the grocery store. While not as radically left as the Austin American-Statistman it's far left of center.

You can Tippecanoe, but you shouldn't tip a cow.
