President Obama had about $88.8 million at the end of August to spend on the presidential campaign. That's nearly twice as much as Republican rival Mitt Romney had at month's end.
Campaign fundraising reports released Thursday show Romney had $50.4 million to spend as of Aug. 31. He also owed $15 million on a $20 million loan taken that month.

So let me get this straight... Romney had about $50 million more that Obama going into September, but Obama outspent him, per some reports by a factor of 3 in the battleground states... and now Romney TRAILS in cash on hand? I’m not getting this at all.
- Money stashed away from the first “stimulus”
- Foreign money
- Other corrupt projects like Solyndra
His plan, all along, to stay in power has been to stash money and divert money so he could collect it for his second campaign. He started doing this the day he was sworn in.
A good part of Romney's fundraising was done jointly with the RNC. Last night, Priebus said the RNC has $77 million on hand; the DNC has $7 million on hand.
Money is not the problem.
If Obama needs money his campaign will go to the big Wall Street and borrow it. What regulated bank will turn him down?
If he loses, his campaign declares bankruptcy and doesn’t pay. Obama is not personally liable. If he wins, the bank CEO’s receive a private visit from a Chicago pol who encourages them to write off the loans.
$50 million each from the 8 largest banks in the country provides $400 million. What a nice October surprise and plenty of walking around money to get the projects out to vote, not to mention overwhelming media buy for the last two weeks.
The RNC and SuperPac money dwarfs what the DNC et al have on the side.
All it means is that Obama has sucked up all the money that would be used to support candidates down ticket.
I firmly believe that Obama does not want to win nor does he think he can win.
Look for him to retire in that 35 million dollar house in Hawaii . Hillbuzz indicates it will be set up like the Kennedy Trust
After he loses..we are going to see things that will make our heads spin and shout out that he must be the Antichrist. Pure evil on display.
Yeah, they didn’t spend a thousand billion dollars without skimming a billion somewhere...
The GOP advantage is in the SuperPACs. Rove, the Kochs, Adelman, and others; we’re talking maybe a half billion dollars. The Democrats have Union and SuperPAC money, but only about half.
I do think this is disinformation to discourage. I saw some tweet night before last saying Romney borrowed 20 million in August and is in debt 11 million. Never heard anymore about it so I think it is another lie to demoralize. Sounds like the libtards have been talking to media matters or something to coordinate the story.
It’s very possible that Romney has already spent a lot of his money on ads that are yet to run. There is only a limited amount of TV ad space available, and I would bet the Romney campaign locked as much of it up as possible as soon as they were allowed to spend the money.
Nothing new here. Obama had led in donations all along; he was only telling his base he was behind (through his contorted math formulas I guess). Here’s a couple of sites to keep up with the $$: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres12/index.php and http://www.campaignmoney.com/
Yes but here is the deal. Zero will not spend all of that money because he can keep it after he loses. I predict he’ll keep 40+ million. That leaves him with 40 or so.
But our superpacs are not included here. We have way more money in our superpacs and Barry has little here.
Scream and yell if you wish, but I believe going down with the ship’ as heroic as it sounds won't buy our kids and grandkids the future they deserve.
this guy has some big names protecting him....
I would rather leave it blank than go for the libertarian
A libertarian is a "true conservative"?
Who knew...???
Okay you got me there! But I wanted to make myself absolutely clear! There are all sorts of beasts masquerading as conservatives...RINO Romney being #1.
Better Romney than McCain.
Romney has, at least, bothered to learn and use the language of conservatism.
As a candidate, however, McCain couldn't let a day pass without insulting conservatives in some fashion.
Lord, I learned to hate that opportunistic SOB.
