BREAKING NEWS: Two sources in Chicago diplomatic circles identify Ambassador Chris Stevens as gay

Today I went out into the field here in Chicago looking to talk to some of the striking teachers but no one in a red-shirt was anywhere to be found (or, if they were wearing one, they had nothing to do with the teachers’ union strike). A journalist friend of mine asked me to nose around and see if I could uncover anything about slain Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was rumored to be gay. A former “roommate” of Stevens by the name of Austin Tichenor lives and works in Chicago and while making calls to friends of mine in the theater world who know him I also thought to check some sources with the city who deal with the State Department and foreign dignitaries when they are in town.

Of course, they’ve all been talking about Ambassador Stevens’ murder by Muslims in Libya: and all of them are incredulous that the State Department sent a gay man to be ambassador to a Muslim country. News reports continue to indicate that the Muslims who murdered Stevens also raped him repeatedly, before and after his death.

Having lived in multiple foreign countries, rational, thinking people don’t try to go into a foreign country and expect them to respect what’s tolerated in America. This is a pertinent subject for discussion because it highlights either the arrogance, ignorance or willful provocation of our government. I’ve considered myself fairly feminist as far as women’s rights, but we shouldn’t have a woman ambassador in Egypt, either.

So we shouldn't send women, gays, atheists, agnostics, Christians, Hindus etc as diplomats?

Who should we send so as not to offend them, in your opinion?

Let me try this line of thinking.

Ambassadors are sent to other countries to build relationships. They are sent to hostile regions to get the sides talking to each other. They do so by finding some common ground amongst the parties, and then building upon that common ground.

Imagine how a conversation might go:

"I'm Chris Stevens, ambassador from the United States. I'm pleased to meet you."

Over time, conversation would turn to family and what life is like in the West. It would be a way for the parties to understand: 1) what experience each is coming from, and 2) their ability to relate to the experiences of the others.

When Ambassador Stevens says he is not married and has no children, no gilfriends, no tales of dating to share with the others in a moment of "guy talk," what would you expect the presumptions to be?

Moving away from this topic to the larger issues, I believe he was likely assassinated because he was good at his job. Given that he was fluent in the language, and was willing to be secreted into the country on a cargo ship, likely working from safe-houses with cardboard boxes as office equipment, I'm sure he earned the trust of the parties he negotiated with. I'm guessing that he was too successful at getting the parties to at least be willing to talk to one another first. This, by itself, could be seen as a threat to al Qaeda, who would rather see the parties shooting at each other instead of talking to each other.

That made Steven a threat and a target. There likely wasn't a deep bench behind Stevens to fill the void if he were taken out. That made him a valuable target to disrupt progress. Taking out Stevens would set back gains in the region and force diplomacy to start over.

There is video of it that was widely circulated at the time. We are talking about sodomy with an inanimate object such as a knife or a stick not sodomy with penises.

"The fact that a US Ambassador and several others (accounts vary) were killed, and the ambassador brutally tortured, is a kick in the face to the country, as he was officially representing our country."

This a$$backwards evil admin. put him there. Who the heck leaked the info where he was NOT supposed to be? Who the heck handed him over to these monsters to do what they did to him? WHO had a hand in PROMOTING these monsters?

I am not stating he deserved what happened to him. It was atrocious...can't expect anything less from these demons.

My point is HE was KEY to handing over power to these demons. One CANNOT play with demons and expect NOT to get burned.

These evil things ALWAYS expect a payback.

With that being said, I think we should remove ALL US EVERYONE and blast their a$$ to glass.

Unfortunately, with the wuss in the white hut (promoting all of this), it ain't gonna happen.

However, I cannot dismiss his own responsibility in creating this situation....just as I would not dismiss my OWN responsibility doing something terribly array, knowing what I was doing was wrong.

Homosexuals should never be sent to represent our country nor be in sensitive positions which need security clearance.

“Who gives a shit about what someone thinks about what he does or does not do in private? It is totally irrelevant.”

You could not be more wrong. The fact that Ambassador Stevens was a homosexual could not be more relevant. The reason he was murdered is because he was a homosexual. Stevens was repeatedly raped before and after he was murdered.

Stop parroting politically correct nonsense and try to learn something.

I agree with you.

It’s a fuster cluck and no easy way out. My recently retired tagline said “we have to go through hell to get out of hell”.

Debating is for two different points of view. Discussing is talking about the same point of view. You are right - they have nothing in common.

"I heard that there a lot of Circles in Chicago and Barry really liked eating the cracker."

I heard barry liked the older white crackers "eating his cracker".

The only ambassador that will be acceptable to a muslim country is a muslim ambassador.

Bush made some rotten descisions/appointments too.

Point being that if the logic holds for 0bama then it holds for Bush and he assigned Stevens to Libya first.

This intel report doesn't say anything about gay ambassadors.

Congress was warned about Libya last month

AS the late, great Andrew Breitbart would say, "So?"
The man was murdered because he was an American doing his job for this country. We should ALL be outraged by that, no matter what his personal life was like.

Fine, there are reasons for that. However, one of the reasons should NOT be because we might offend the muzzies. That's bowing down to them.

“No he was killed because he was the US Ambassador.”

In the past 35 years, during the rise of militant anti-American Islam, how many other U.S. Ambassadors have been killed and repeatedly raped? If he was killed and raped because he was a U.S. Ambassador then all U.S. Ambassadors would be killed and raped. Or at least some.

I guess that means the Fred Phelps Fake Baptist Church is going to try to make a scene at the poor guy's funeral.

I hope the Patriot Riders will provide 'security' for his funeral, as they have for our soldiers. He also died in service to this country.

The purpose for foreign service and statesmanship does not include provoking hostility and adversity except in war, when one seeks to change the volition of an enemy to your own.

Exactly. Bush made rotten decisions/appointments too. Just not on the scale of the present pres.

I didn’t imply that the warnings were about homosexual diplomats, just that intel had warnings about the attacks in Egypt and Libya 48 hours before they occurred and did not tell the AMericans in the embassies, did not pass the warnings on.

Terrible.

There should not be a policy WRT orientation. If the man is qualified for the job, then he should get the job, period.
