Neil Armstrong's ashes buried at sea

The cremated remains of Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon, were committed to the Atlantic Ocean today, in accordance with the Navy flier's final wish.

The setting for today's burial-at-sea ceremony on the Navy missile cruiser Philippine Sea, operating out of its Florida homeport, was much more intimate. Armstrong's widow, Carol, played a key role in the proceedings: Assisted by Navy Lt. Cmdr. Paul Nagy, she passed the remains overboard, then accepted the folded-up U.S. flag from from the ship's commanding officer, Capt. Steve Shinego.

What moving photos. What joyous but sad as well moving photos. Mrs. Armstrong looks comforted, proud, sad and happy all at once. I’m glad SHE was the one to perform this last act of love. God rest the soul of Neil Armstrong and thank you God for his contribution to his country. He was a humble man who asked for nothing more than to live his life with his family.
Thank you Neil Armstrong for being such a wonderful, strong example of what one can do when they want something bad enough. He did his job and then he moved on. What a GREAT human being.

Is there, maybe, a Neil Armstrong Museum, or monument where his story could be told, and Americans could pay their respects to him there?

His last wishes needed to be honored. But I, too, wish that he had agreed to be buried somewhere like Arlington cemetery. He was a historic figure, and for the sake of his country and our children, his grave deserved a historic place, a memorial for a great accomplishment,
He was also, to all appearances, a great and good man, who preferred to keep out of the limelight—but perhaps too modest at the end.

So fitting. He is now part of that blue ocean that gives Earth its distinctive and beautiful blue color as seen from space.

At least NBC News got his name correct this time. It’s Neil Armstrong, and not Neil Young.

It's almost like they are burying the great dream of "Man in Space" with him. It's so sad what has become of that great dream.

Or even released in space. Why not from the Space Station? But then, his family would not have been able to take part in the ceremony, so this suffices.
What a lovely concept, and didn't he mention that distinctive feature, when he returned from the moon?
There are no photos of Armstrong on the moon, except for a few taken from a camera mounted on the lunar lander.
All the photos from Apollo 11 are of Aldrin.
Why? Armstrong had the camera, mounted on his chest.
