Los Angeles (CNN) -- Federal officials are reviewing the probation of a local man believed to the maker of an anti-Islam film that ignited a firestorm in the Muslim world, a court spokeswoman said Friday.
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula was convicted in 2009 of bank fraud and was placed on supervised probation for five years.
Federal officials consider Nakoula to be the filmmaker behind the anti-Islam "Innocence of Muslims."
A review of his federal probation is ongoing, said Karen Redmond, spokeswoman for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
Redmond didn't provide details of why and when the probation review was initiated, or how long would the process would take.
While on probation, Nakoula can't access computers or any device that can access the Internet without approval from his probation officer.

Trumped up charges ???
The fall guy.
Obama’s apology Tour and support of Arab Spring Islamists are real cause.
Of course CNN, it’s the film maker’s fault. The poor Muslims rioting and killing American ambassadors, we need to apologize.
It’s time to charge the studios and throw these bums off the air.
Utter madness.
Maybe....or witness protection program?
Where can I watch this alleged film?
Four more years.
Actually, the guy was in prison in 2011 for Federal bank fraud charges. Apparently ripped off Wells Fargo to the tune of thousands.
It seems the terms of his probation included the fact that he wasn’t allowed to use a computer or the internet for five years from his release.
If he’s the individual who posted the video online, then he violated the conditions of his parole.
WTF is this nonsense? Why is the USA apologising for the movie? I watched it, and the parts that the Muslims find offensive are largely grounded on fact, from Islamic sources themselves. The topics: Muhammad’s paedophile ways through his relationship (sexual) with 6-year old Aisha, his warmongering, legitimising theft and banditry, and his collaboration with the Nestorian Christian monk Bahira, with whose help he produced the Quran.
The sort of behavior that the US is exhibiting currently is unAmerican. If no reaction comes forth to oppose this, America truly is dead.
I believe that this was an islamist operation and this person was involved in a wag the dog film to help with their uprising and cover for the terrorists

They found their Christian (nonpracticing), and coincidently a Coptic one, and that’s it. Never mind that these 9-11 attacks on our overseas sovereignity, and murdering of our personnel were planned in advance. Nor that they’re running around carrying black flags nor that they’ve been flying these black flags since last year. There’s more to this video than we’re being told...it will come out.
And if he made the video, handed it to a friend, and the friend posted it, then he didn't violate parole.
Just completely a red herring.
The Islamic jihadists are stormed up because Current Occupant called the shot on killing Osama bin Ladin, which the militants MIGHT have overlooked (bin Ladin was long since out of the picture as a serious player in the Jihad), but the Current Occupant kept on spouting off about how he “got bin Ladin”, which was rubbing salt in the wound so far as the militants were concerned. This was far more distressing and induced much greater wrath than some rather poorly made and badly acted trailer for a movie (which has apparently not been released in its full form yet), and which, until it was made out to be the cause celebre’ of this unrest, was hardly seen by ANYBODY.
However, this does give the Islamic Militants a veto over the exercise of the First Amendment within the United States. Or so they would like to do, in displacing the body of Constitutional law with some form of Shar’ia law.
where are the former mugshots of this guy..current photos...
heard that he got financing from egypt for this film through his wife..
You gonna get it now!
What, no tax audit?
And that’s very true.
The whole issue of whether or not he violated his parole hinges on whether he’s used a computer since he was released.
If he has, well, then it’s back to the slammer for him. If not, then no problem. Though I would recommend that he perhaps not take any vacations to the Middle East in the near future, but that’s another story.
