I received an eMail with the following information:
"... both WALMART and CVS PHARMACIES should now have available a brand new, over-the-counter EPINEPHRINE ASTHMA INHALER, called ASTHMANEFRIN, sold by NEPHRON PHARMACEUTICALS
Please address any questions to them at 855-999-3926.
No, this is NOT PRIMATENE MIST, but it has the SAME ACTIVE INGREDIENT as Primatene Mist, EPINEPHRINE, and BEST OF ALL, UNLIKE PRIMATENE MIST, IT HAS NO ETHANOL!"

I'm posting purely to pass on the information to those with asthma who either miss their over the counter Primatene Mist or miss their prescription CFC rescue inhalers that actually worked.
In addition, the following updated information is now available at the web site:
"CLRD (Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease, mainly asthma, COPD and cystic fibrosis) rose from the 4th leading cause of death in the US in 2007 to the 3rd leading cause of death in 2008, according to the
CDC. [Table C]
The CLRD death rate increased by 10.3% in 2008.
Minor changes in "coding rules" cannot explain this sharp increase in the CLRD death rate, but this does:
The US Government banned the use of 'gold standard' CFC (chlorofluorocarbon-propelled) rescue inhalers and replaced them with grossly inferior 'environmentally-friendly' HFA (hydrofluoroalkane-propelled) rescue inhalers in 2008.

No ethanol? must get good mileage.

Thank you so much.
My husband and mother-in-law both use them and they bought as many as they could.
This could be a God send.

Thank you for this information. My husband uses an inhaler for COPD, but because he doesn’t have medical insurance, has been going without and it’s been tough. He’ll be glad to know he can get an inhaler again.

Asthmanefrin will be available at your local Walmart and CVS/pharmacy.

Ozone BS aside, I thought inhalation of CFC was actually dangerous?
I remember buying Dustoff a few years ago with the label "contains arrogant" (to discourage young skulls fulls of mush from becoming even mushier) or some such warning.

Wasn’t EPINEPHRINE pulled off the shelves. It was, IIRC, in weight loss and some people reacted very, very poorly. Heart problems.
Maybe since it is a mist, they’re worked out the EPINEPHRINE by now.

In high school, I had a friend who used that stuff to get high. His lefty NOW mom caught him. Her response? "Why can't you just use pot like the rest of the kids!"
He turned out ok.

The inhalers used 'medical' CFC and were not dangerous except in the mind of those who bought into the Ozone and later Climate Change BS.
CFC inhalers have been around since the 1950's and were a major breakthrough in the treatment of asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases. The emergency inhalers saved untold number of lives by either stopping an attack or buying time to get to an emergency room for treatment.
The warming you saw has to do with 'huffing'; the young and dumb getting high by inhaling all the propellants, volatile vapor and heaven knows what else, from an aerosol cans or glue.

Maybe since it is a mist, theyre worked out the EPINEPHRINE by now.
The herb/plant ephedra was sold as a weight loss aid.
There was nothing wrong with them IF used as directed. The bad experiences were in people who abused the product, i.e. had pre-existing conditions and were warned not to use it but used it anyway usually in above recommended doses, and in people living on coffee and ephedra. FYI, You can kill yourself drinking too much mater - 'water intoxication'.
Pseudoephedrine, a component (alkoloid) of ephedra, is used in over-the-counter decongestants. The nanny state now makes you sign to buy.
Ephedrine is another components of ephedra that has been used traditionally to open up the lungs. It was available over the counter as Primatne Mist until the FDA banned it because it contained CFC propellants. Protecting the Ozone hole the Climate Change BS.

I hate to be a curmudgeon here, but I have to say that epinephrine inhalers are a bad choice for most folks. They are seductive in that they have a very quick onset and a strong effect, but the pharmacologic effect only lasts an hour or so, and the side effects on the heart & blood pressure are dangerous for people with heart disease & hypertension. Albuterol inhalers & nebulizer solutions are much better in the long run.

As a reminder there are many for whom the new politically correct HFA albuterol inhalers don’t work or don’t work nearly as well. And then there are those for whom those new politically correct HFA albuterol inhalers cause a SEVERE asthma attack.
In addition those new politically correct cheap powdered inhalers that contain Milk proteins that can cause severe hoarseness, inflammation, and hives.
