The White House has brushed aside an offer by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet with President Obama later this month, Israeli officials told Fox News. The apparent snub came despite a state of heightened alert over Iran’s nuclear program and the possibility of Israeli action.
Sources said Netanyahu, though he plans to be in New York City during his brief stay, was offering to travel to D.C. to make the meeting happen. However, the White House apparently said Obama’s tight schedule – the president is in the middle of a feverish campaign schedule -- would make a meeting difficult.
The turn-down comes amid increasing international anxiety about Iran’s nuclear program. The U.N. reportedly has found new intelligence showing Iran is moving toward nuclear weapon capability.
But the exchange between the White House and the prime minister’s office is the most recent in what is seen as a cool, if not strained, relationship between Obama and Netanyahu, despite Israel being considered one of the United State’s closest allies.
One well-placed Jewish-American leader told Fox News that the White House has not yet fully ruled out moving things around on the schedule in order to accommodate Netanyahu – but that as of now, Obama is scheduled to be on the campaign trail during the window of time when Netanyahu can make it to Washington.

Think about it, Israel is the SAFEST PLACE ON EARTH. With what’s coming to the world, yes, I wouldn’t mind being there when the $hit hits the fan. I am somewhat suprised that people think secular/ethnically Jewish people should care about Israel.
I mean, do people worry about Irish Americans’s votes because of positions regarding Northern Ireland (or whatever)? No. It’s just a non-issue.
Now, as a theological matter I do feel all Jews, secular or not, are connected to Israel, whether they want to be or not. Perhaps that connection is what people (even gentile people, or perhaps especially gentile people) feel -— every knows, in their heart that Jewish people should care about Israel.
Who knows. It’s approaching the high holidays.

I find it hard to agree anymore. I wish I could, man I really do.
I know that there are some good people left here, no doubt about it.
Let me put it to you this way.
If Ohio goes Obama, evil wins.
If Florida goes Obama, evil wins.
If Texas goes Obama, fat chance I know but still, evil wins.
That is how close we are to the end. That is how far our backs are against the wall.
That is how outnumbered we are.
And that is just the people. When you include the government is the calculation of what is wrong in this country, we are so far from good it boggles my mind.
New Zealand seem like a lovely place, no doubt, and I have thought of there as well.
But this isn’t about trying to find a nice place to live.

This is about fighting with the good guys against the worst mankind has to offer.

Anyway we were talking over e-mail in 2008 and I said I would not vote for obama etc.

The White House declined Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request on Tuesday to meet U.S. President Barack Obama during a UN conference in New York at the end of the month.
An official in Jerusalem said that the prime minister’s office sent the White House a message stating that although Netanyahu will spend only two and a half days on U.S. soil, he is interested in meeting Obama and is willing to travel to the U.S. capital specifically for that purpose. The official added that the White House rejected the request and said that at this time Obama’s schedule does not allow for a meeting
