After nearly 18 months of dealing with an uprising in his country, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is having trouble sleeping at night, according to a Syrian journalist who previously worked at the presidential palace.
The journalist, Abdallah Omar, said in an interview quoted by Channel 10 News that Assad can sleep for only an hour or two at night.
Omar, who recently defected from Syria because of the ongoing violence in the country, said that the Syrian president watches from his office no less than 16 TV channels belonging to the rebel forces in the country. According to Omar, the official Syrian television is less interesting for Assad.
Assad sits all day watching TV with a remote control, said Omar. He listens to each satellite channel. Every time he gets nervous and angry, he looks out the window at the view of Damascus.
According to Omar, Assad knew in advance of any official who defected. Assad receives detailed daily reports from Syrian embassies around the world, including news that is published about Syria and people who defected and left the country.
The Syrian journalist also claimed that officials in the Assad regime plan to flee into Russia...

He can sleep when he’s dead.
If I had thousands of people wanting to cut my head off I would have trouble sleeping too.
Imagine that: murdering your countrymen and women and children by the thousands causes restless nights.
There’s a permanent cure for that
,,,, I guess so with all those bombs going off and constant rifle fire .,
If he left now, he could do a product endorsement for Sominex. Imagine how the commercial would look.
You know, I was thinking of some sarcastic reply in regard to Assad’s insomnia predicament, but then my mind flashed back onto this little gem attributed to Josef Stalin:
“The greatest delight is to mark one’s enemy, prepare everything, avenge oneself thoroughly, and then go to sleep.”
I guess Assad’s not looking at things the right way.
If thousands of rebels in America tried to overthrow our president by force then our president might use force too in order to try and stop them.
If the rebels are the Constitutionalists, I’d join up
A homicidal dictator and his head are eventually parted.
look the truth is, the “revolutionaries” or the “freedom fighters” or whatever they are trying to sell are simply out for wealth and power and they are complete barbarians. Not to say Assad isn’t a strongman, ut the “revolutionaries” are NOT GOOD GUYS. Witness Egypt. It’s just that when there is a little bit of a power vacuum, other bad nasty people will fight to control it. Way it is.
you know, kemosabe, the revolutionaries were throwing bodies of postal workers off buildings. If you really think they will be some big improvement, you are delusional.
It’s an area with few good guys. They’ve been inbreeding and selecting for stupid fanatics for far too many generations for there to be an easy earthly solution.
From Dune that Assad apparently has not read......
Litany against fear
The litany against fear is an incantation used by the Bene Gesserit throughout the series to focus their minds and calm themselves in times of peril. The litany is as follows:
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.[2]
Then there is the General Patton Quote Assad has not heard.....
Do not take counsel of your fears
Maybe, as tired as he is, tomorrow he needs a dirt nap!
