The White House says that the August jobs report shows that the nation is continuing to recover, despite more Americans giving up their job search.
Alan Krueger, chairman for the White House Council of Economic Advisers, writes in The White House Blog that it is important to not read too much into just one monthly jobs report.

What about 48 monthly jobs reports?...............
His standard response, I believe...
Freddie Krueger?
More people go on disability than have dropped off of unemployment since “recovery summer” of 2010.
4 years of soundbites are available, and if the Romney campaign puts together a regular montage of ‘recovery’, ‘turning the corner’, ‘can’t look at just one month’, etc, this election is won. It shows complete incompetence.
yeah...it’s not like these are real people with real problems...(obvious sarcasm)
Yep..but what about 3 years of bad job reports??
Yeah, exactly. This is precisely what R&R ought to be saying — “I agree with the White House, we shouldn’t read too much into a single monthly jobs report . . . but I read a lot into 36 straight monthly jobs reports and that is, this President’s policies are a failure and we need to change, and quickly.”
This campaign is becoming as great a catastrophe as the last four years of Obama governance has been.
Unemployment is dropping because people are giving up (as the article said before it apparently disappeared), and they describe this as “continuing to recover”. They have more talent than I thought if they were able to say that with a straight face.
“What about 48 monthly jobs reports?”
Exactly what I was thinking.
I’m sure some sharp media type will ask that Ques.............nevermind
He has a point considering how unexpected this report was.
When will it be important?
I'm pretty sure they say exactly that every month.
Last month, the WH said that the uptick in the percentage in unemployment was not relevent - the number of jobs created was ...
Now that the number of jobs created went down, but the unemployment percentage also went down - the WH could not legitimately tout the drop in the percentage of unemployment without looking foolish ...
You reap what you sow ...
I think what he meant to say was “Don’t read too much into one FOUR YEAR jobs report.”
This is getting hard to watch. I’m actually starting to feel a little sorry for them. Just a little.
“When will it be important?”
The next time a Republican is in the Whitehouse of course.
