First Lady Michelle Obamas pitch to voters last night relied on the premise that she and her husband understand what it is to struggle to make ends meet. She spoke movingly about their early years--about how a young Barack Obama drove a car that was rusted out" and found his furniture in a dumpster, how they both came from families that had to scrape by. Her fairy tale--however well-delivered--was one great, big, colorful lie.
Both Michelle Robinson and Barack Obama began their adult lives with a leg up on the rest of America. They attended elite schools: Michelle went to Whitney Young, the public magnet school for Chicagos upper class, while Barack attended Punahou, the private prep school for the top stratum of Hawaiian society. They were accepted to Ivy League schools despite undistinguished credentials, and both attended Harvard Law School.

Wait. Give it a few minutes for the rest of the gang to arrive before you start giving facts. Otherwise you’ll ruin their fun.
Where I grew up, those were called "windows".
You’re the biggest fake of all “Nana”.
Do I have the MSNBC/Chris Matthews narrative down right?
The neighborhood in which she grew up was quite nice, quite comfortable. I have friends who grew up in the same neighborhood. Full of prosperous middle-income families. It was safe and leafy. The fact that it’s on Chicago’s South Side doesn’t mean it was dangerous or in the ghetto.
One thing Beitbart missed was that by marrying Michele, Obama married into one of the “first families” of the Democratic party and the Daley political machine in Chicago, where her father had been among the Black Chicago political elite for years, with all the social perks and connections that went with it.

Oh come on its no worse than Ann Romneys False Fairy Tale of Struggle,
In fact its not as far fetched...
Ann wins this fakery...”
Nanna..nanna where have you been? Have you gone to Charlotte to lead the cheers at BO’s coronation party?
Nanna is the most devout Christian, and some might say a self righteous Freeper, but she would modestly demur from that appellation, who would prefer the Muslim-in-hiding-in-plain sight to a patriotic American who just happens to be a mormon.
i’m sure that Nanna feels that she is God’s judge on earth, to call out the righteous from the unGodly.
Heaven Save America from 4 more years of BO.
If there was no left wing bias in the LameStreamMedia... SEVERAL people would have already shouted on TV: “WHAT A LYING POS!”
When I started off I drove some pretty raggedy cars, and lived in some pretty modest digs.
I’ve never thought of it as a “struggle” any different than what 99% of people go through as they get out on their own and start adult life.
There is a kind of “transitional poverty” that is a normal part of life. You go through it on your way up. Sometimes if you have some hard luck, you’ll go through it again later on. Some people go through it several times as their businesses fail, and they have to start over and sometimes start over again.
Mitt Romneys wife, Ann Romney, on the other hand looked to me like a corporate wife, Williams said, speaking on a panel after the Republican National Conventions speeches wrapped for the night. And you know the stories she told about struggle, eh, its hard for me to believe. Shes a very rich woman and I know that and America knows that.
Now, Krauthammer is saying very similar things about Michelle Obama after the first night of the Democrat convention.
What will the reaction be?

Well we dont really need one do we...
What normal working women have to endure and just keep on going, Ann Romney cant and gets to complain about as virtue...
Poor Ann, she and Willard nearly had to sell some stock when they were in college...
Gosh that was some suffering...
I imagine any expenses they had for school were paid by someone else. I bet they didn't even have college loans.
They can prove me wrong by showing us the bills.
WITHOUT a nanny, housekeeper or domestic helper.

BTW at least one of the people hired to boast about the wonderfulness walk-on-water of Willard also said she was the BABYSITTER and help for the Romneys
so that gives the lie to that little “struggling virtue”
Oh noez...
BTW again you never mentioned “servants”
Ann Romney had servants my grandmother with her SEVEN sons and EIGHT daughters never dreamt of...
Clothes washer, dish washer, fridge, vacuum cleaner, electric stove, car...
My other grandmother only had 8 children but her husband died when my father the oldest was 13...
My father dropped out of school to work fulltime to support his mother and younger siblings,,
Until she died at 80 she still made all her own clothes..
Both of these women thought their lives were normal...
They wouldnt have said they suffered...
Ann didnt know suffering...
It just seems to be a case of 2 miserable aquabbling females Michelle and Ann trying to one up each other by seeing who can grizzle and moan the loudest...
Neither of them show the attributes of a leader...
I wonder when theyre going to talk about their operations..
A normal young couple with “crushing” student loan debts doesn’t have the income to qualify for a mortgage on a $277,000 condo one year after the wedding date. Real struggling couples rent for years to scrape up the down payment and closing costs for a much more modest first home.
Struggling college students work during summers between school years, they don’t have the funds to travel internationally. They also lack the funds for recreational drugs. Most middle class kids go to state universities, not elite and expensive private schools. The truth is, both Michelle and Barack are children of privilege. Real struggle has not been part of their life experience.
