The headline speeches last night in Charlotte were a mayor nobody has heard of and First Lady Michelle Obama. Last night and this morning, the media are tripping over each other to heap praise on Mrs. Obama's speech, which was mostly a rehash of her speech in 2008, albeit with newly remembered money struggles. She gave a strong performance, but, unfortunately for the Democrats, not many people saw it. Overall, the speech attracted around 11 million viewers on the three broadcast networks. That's about 400,000 fewer viewers than watch Ann Romney's speech. But, the really bad news for Obama, is the massive drop in viewers from 2008.
NBC won the coverage, as it did for the RNC last week. But, its viewership was down 24% from 08. For its RNC coverage on the first night, its viewership was actually 8% higher than 08. CBS and ABC have even starker declines, dropping 45% and 38% respectively, compared to 08. Their coverage of the RNC was down also, but a more modest 25% and 38% from 08.

But, but, but, da bro is da man! Whatzzz up wiff dis?
Me neither. Why subject yourself to that?
Wouldn’t it be cool if Clinton gets a bigger audience than BO?
I think viewership for the RNC was down, also.
Well obviously the ratings scale is racist LOL. I couldnt watch that garbage last night either. I watched Little House On The Prairie instead. My aunt and uncle are both Dems, both voted for Obama in 2008 and both will be voting for Mitt Romney in November. They were both so gleeful when Obama won in 2008, now all they could do was apologize to me last night for not listening to me when I told them in 2008 what Obama was, now they see it
“a mayor nobody has heard of and First Lady Michelle Obama” WHICH MANY WISH THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF.
There, fixed it.
I would watch the grass grow before a damn anti-American democratic convention!
What, America did not go lunging for their dials to watch the Mayor of San Antonio, Texas? /sarc
I didn’t watch either.
There is part of me that wants to see a train wreck.
Wasn’t that event on Empty Chair Day?
That would explain all the empty chairs in the arena!
could not watch it as I know it will be filled with hate and attacks based on lies which are out of order and goes beyond a normal convention of the past .
I love how the ems are now saying they willbring the speech inside , nah nothing to do with a small crowd and they can;t even give tickets away.
ARF
LOL Couldn’t even give the tickets away on top of them bussing thousands in from all over ,now imagine of the media actualy did their job and report on the facts and stopped covering for their messiah.
There was genuine interest in the Conventions last time around because both of Palin on the GOP ticket and Obama on the Dem ticket destroying the glass ceiling. That kind of interest isn’t here this time.
I do begin to think the way conventions are shown to the American People is probably overblown. The only two speeches that really merit coverage are from the the four people on the two tickets and those speeches could be condensed into one night.
I wouldn’t watch. No way were they going to get my number added to a watch..... Anything but...
MIL a life long Dem voters and voted for obama will be voting for Romney too.
She has seen that obamacare, and how obama does nto care about the elderly plus she disagrees with their stance on homosexuality
They have nothing new to say.
Everyone has heard Obama’s two main points over and over for four years:
1 - If you don’t like it, Bush did it.
2 - I, Barack Obama, am wonderful
I can’t wait to see the audience comparisons with the Giants/Cowboys game to that freak show. I think I know. These are the SB champs vs. their hated rival the Dallas Cowboys. The DNC shoulda thought about that.
