CHARLOTTE, N.C. – College students from across North Carolina will arrive in Charlotte by the busload. Same with members of predominantly black churches in neighboring South Carolina.
Their goal: help fill a 74,000-seat outdoor stadium to capacity when President Obama accepts the Democratic nomination Thursday night.
Anything short of a full house on the final night of the Democratic Party's national convention will be instant fodder for Republicans eager to use empty seats as symbols of waning voter enthusiasm for Obama.

You know, most of this rain in the east is from the remains of hurricane Isaac, the very same hurricane that the Rats hoped would wash out the RNC convention. It would be the perfect irony if that same storm ended up washing out O-Bah-Mah’s stadium event.

Hey, North Carolina is a beautiful state & I like to visit Charlotte from my home in Columbia, SC. Even if their governor is a liberal nutcake.
The Army Reserve HQ I used to drill at off Central Ave in Charlotte is in the middle of the artsy district. Not exactly NASCAR territory but lots of great ethnic restaurants, it was hard to decide where to do lunch.
People I know there just want this Demvention to be over. Rent-a-mobs are the biggest worry.
