FORT BLISS, Texas -- President Obama was planning to visit storm-stricken Louisiana before GOP rival Mitt Romney announced his plans, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One Friday morning.
Romney's campaign announced his trip to New Orleans -- he is touring areas hit by Hurricane Isaac this afternoon -- hours before the White House announced Obama would cancel a planned Monday campaign event in Cleveland to divert to Louisiana.
Carney offered no details about where in Louisiana Obama would travel during his Monday trip.
"In terms of the President's travel, obviously when you're president of the United States, coordinating travel carries with it I think unique logistical challenges," Carney said. "And it was the assessment of the president's team, working with all the people involved in operations as well as people on the ground that Monday would be -- was a good day for the president to visit."
Saw the post earlier today. Pic of Obama, “I have a bracelet too.”
If Obama had really planned to visit Louisiana ... a state he cannot win ... he would be doing it today on his way to Texas.
They’re such liars!
Gotta laugh about the infantile behavior of the vaunted ‘smartest man ever’.
For about three seconds.
Then it gets scary that the infantile ‘smartest man ever’ is in charge of this country.
According to the Boston Globe, Obama was planning to sign another EO today regarding vets’ mental health needs, to coincide with his trip to Ft. Bliss. Louisiana wasn’t mentioned as part of his itinerary.
There he goes - off to NOLA!
I actually LOL’d. Thank goodness I am the only one in the office today.
Check out post #43. What’s there was also posted earlier in another thread. So, either Jennifer Psaki, earlier this morning, had no clue about Obama already having plans to visit LA, or ABC Radio is wrong, or ABC Radio is trying to cover for the administration.
Hmm, I wonder which one it is...
Might I say he is looking a little agitated!
This AM @ around 0915 or so, Chris Plante WMAL AM 630 Washington DC had said Romney was going to NOLA, BO was headed to Ft Bliss - Plante threw in the ‘fact’ that from WashDC to Ft Bliss BO would be able to do a ‘fly over’ of NO and then would go on to FT Bliss for a ‘photo op’.
He then ‘wondered’ what excuse the regime would use as no one bought GW Bush’s of not going to NO so as not to get in the way of the rescuers....
He’s probably not lying.
In about April of 2009 Obama told his staff, “when there is another hurricane in NOLA, I will go.....I will be there for the people”
Hey now! That’s $3!!! Oh wait, they’ve upped it to $5 for this latest “Donation Deadline”! I got emails direct from Bammy, his Mammy and Senile Joe just yesterday!!!
“Chair Force One” LOL.....

Junior O’Daniel: We could hire our own midget, even shorter than his.
Pappy O’Daniel: Wouldn’t we look like a bunch of Johnny-come-latelies, bragging on our own midget, doesn’t matter how stumpy.
are you a visitor here at Free Republic? AKA a Troll.
because that bold BLANTANT LIE is a Democrat talking point..
a democrat, liberal that I sometimes blog with uses it in his comments and just like you posted..
just wondering?
I would love to know who the loud mouth handlers are for Romney. He should have just showed up there and when questioned, answered: We just wanted to show up and support the people of the State of Louisiana and the affected areas without making it a big deal. It is afterall about the people and not the news story.
All that happens while obama has his hand out in Texas someplace.
Would have been classic to see how fast they could have gotten AF1 in the air.
Great catch!!! Thank you.
What a bunch of liars.
“President Barack Obama was today forced to announce he will fly to storm-hit Louisiana on Monday hours after Mitt Romney beat him to the punch by deciding to head there this afternoon.”
Mr Carney, YOU LIE!
