Paul Ryan gave an acceptance speech which ...upped the ante. It lectrified the convention and established him as a force for the future...
It... sent shock waves into the Obama-Biden Camp. Anyone who watched that well delivered speech - and witnessed this man's capacity to articulate his positions clearly, compellingly and cogently - while inspiring his listeners and drawing such rounds of appaluse- will, along with me, welcome the upcoming Vice Presidential debate between he and Vice President Joe Biden. This so called "wonk" is also a formidable political weapon. This debate will be one for the history books!
Ryan's opponents efforts to demonize him and think they can deflect the American public from listening to his considered positions on the vital issues and challenges we face as a Nation will not only fail, I now believe they will backfire. Ryan's demeanor is warm, human and real - a refreshing change in a political atmosphere polluted with vitriol, vapid detraction and denigration.
He lifts up the listener while he speaks truth to a Nation struggling through a desperate hour. He gives the listener hope that they, with good and effective leadership, can actually rebuild the American promise and re-secure the American dream for their children. In short, he dispenses hope in an hour when it is in short supply. That was one fantastic speech.
As I have expressed in the past, authentically Catholic and genuinely Pro-Life, Paul Ryan not only knows Catholic Social Doctrine, he maintains that he actively seeks to integrate the principles it offers into his own public service and the policy proposals he offers. His ability to do just that over the coming weeks will shake up the Catholic discussion over what truly furthers the common good in the social arena. It needs to be shaken up...

A common occurrence at Ryan’s speeches is for someone to yell “look ma, no teleprompter!”
The suck-up biased press will give him softballs while trying to trip up Ryan. Must be nice for dems to have the corrupt media on their side... Lazy shiftless 'journalists' will be fed nice stuff from Dem PR firms - like the kind Carville runs... for a long time if they can trash Ryan...
It's Chicago style corruption - bribes with information rather than cash... 'information' is the coin of the realm.
New York Times? CNN? Washington Post? Do you see yourselves?
Man! Yes! That line was GREAT! In fact, I now have it as my tagline. - Last night, when Ryan said this, the camera was on a rather dramatic looking blonde lady; and you could see when it dawned on her what he had said she was INSPIRED. - I’m going to try to figure out how to make a bumper sticker out of it, too. . . and, this time I’m not going to be intimidated out of putting what ever anti-Obama bumper sticker I want on my car.
If he doesn't, Ryan will flay him right there on the debate stage. I wish it were Obama standing there vs. Ryan.
I made my daughters (13 and 16) watch it with me, mostly because I think there’s a fair chance that Ryan will be POTUS one day. Also I’m trying to instill conservative principles before they go off to college and get indoctrinated with liberal ideology.
Condi won them over - she was fantastic. And then Ryan was terrific also - and his speech generated some lively conversation in our living room.
Let’s remember, FReeps, the importance of US teaching our children about the conservative principles for which we stand. They’ll be running the show sooner than you think.
If I got elected VP, I would NOT live in WASHINGTON, DC.
“Governor Susana Martinez....... ‘I turned to my husband Chuck and said....... were Republicans’”
Even funnier was more of her statement: “I’ll be damned! We’re Republicans.” Hilarious and cute.
Last nite Joe Biden must have started out with vodka and tonic in the rocks and ended up drinkIng straight from the bottle.
That would be a great Rush parody-Obama taking Biden in a wheel chair for a “stroll”. Sweet pay back to the DNC for their demonizing Ryan last election cycle. Brilliant idea FRiend!!!
There were teleprompters there, which most were using (except for Condi, certainly). I think the difference is that B-HO is extraordinarily untalented at using them, compared to others who aren't as insecure. He reminds me of a kid trying to steal a glance at his classmates' test during an exam. Ha!
“I feel that everyone was articulate, everyone spoke with unfeigned conviction and a natural enthusiasm.”
Except for when Pam Bondi and her sidekick spoke. Too stilted and obviously being read verbatim. Bondi is usually great, and it seemed that the Lt. Gov. might’ve inserted himself at the last minute. Something threw off the natural rhythm.
Otherwise, every speaker was excellent and authentic and exceeded our expectations. When Pawlenty stepped up, we groaned, expecting to fall asleep immediately. He was the most entertaining when it comes to chuckles. Rice... Wow!
McCain’s speech was good, but he still makes me gag. There he stood, whining about the curent administration when it’s HIS FAULT that we have the current administration. Absolutely disgusting.
I’m looking forward to hearing Newt tonight.
-—— Ill be damned! Were Republicans. ——
I misquoted her, and your correction adds the kick she intended and wholeheartedly deserves.
Can you imagine the debates???
“Joe will become incapacitated...”
Yeah. Permanently. If Hussein perceives Biden will hold him back, Joe could be pushin’ up daisies two months from now. He probably has his own Chicago “people” to handle the job. If not, maybe they could resurrect the Clinton Mafia.
I like him a lot and yes he talks the red meat we all like on social issues too when unleashed.
Problem is that is not Romney nor the GOP leadership now.
Aside from a few bones like Ryan, this convention is the most moderate on social issues I have seen in my adult life and I am 54.
and aside from Ryan's fiery rhetoric they aren't throwing 10 percent what they did at Newt and others
folks here as is often the case...see one thing they like and get excited and then generalize about the whole enchilada like it is so great
it's not...Romney is not great..in fact he sucks
It is a shame he is all we got under the tree this election but it is what it is.
We don't have to start thinking his election is the second coming, we just unfortunately have to vote for him but we don't have to like it and turn his Ryan pick into some fantasy that it is all just so wonderful.
Not me anyhow.
That's true, but remember that is a stylistic flaw. It doesn't negate the message.
We'd be Liberals TOO is we banked on style over and above content.
I don't have a problem with their presentation... these people are not professional ‘entertainers’ but rather administrators and politicians.
Their message is what matters.
I saw an interview with governor Christie who was quizzed about the teleprompter toning down his enthusiasm and spontaneity.
He said that usage was required.
