Clint Eastwood To Speak At Republican Convention on Thursday: Fox News

Clint Eastwood will be speaking at the Republican Convention in Tampa on Thursday according to Fox News. The network’s website is reporting that a GOP source confirmed “that Eastwood is indeed the mystery speaker”. Thursday night’s line-up has a “To Be Announced” speaker scheduled ahead of Senator Marco Rubio and GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney himself. Eastwood’s name was floated earlier this week as the speaker along with former VP nominee Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and even a hologram of former President Ronald Reagan. No stranger to politics, Eastwood served as the Mayor of Carmel, California from 1986 to 1988. He supported John McCain in 2008 and endorsed Mitt Romney earlier this month at a Sun Valley fundraiser. “Now more than ever do we need Mitt Romney, I’m going to be voting for him,” the Oscar winner said as the GOP nominee stood next to him on August 4. If Eastwood is really heading to Tampa to speak Thursday evening, he’s going to have to get going soon. Deadline has learned that as of Wednesday afternoon, the actor/director was still at his home in Carmel. Eastwood’s latest film, Trouble With The Curve comes out on September 21, 2012.

Maybe a Charlton Heston moment at the convention?

I cant imagine this going badly. Eastwood is a man’s man and the real deal. Don’t expect TOTUS to be there. This could be epic or simply okay. I’m betting on epic.

Like WHI, I am worried about Mitt topping Ryan’s speech. It was real political rock star status stuff. Now after Eastwood? Mitt must be on top of his game. Based on his past as an executive I predict success.

I was trying to describe Eastwood to my middle school-aged kids. Blank looks when I said “Dirty Harry” the Unforgiven. El Torino.

Huh? Those are the *new* Eastwood movies. His best ones were the "man with no name" Spaghetti Westerns. Oh, and The Outlaw Josie Wales.

I’m not certain I agree with your sentiment, but I sure do love how you expressed it.

1966 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

1965 For a Few Dollars More

1964 A Fistful of Dollars

What made these films great was the director Sergio Leone who used limited dialog and instead emphasized the genius of the Enno Morricone musical scores.

Clint doesn’t project well, in an audio sense. Especially in a large auditorium. Should be an easy speech for Romney to top.

Saw the preview for Trouble with the Curve right before the “2016” movie this weekend. Audience response was positive. Looking forward to this one.

“I was trying to describe Eastwood to my middle school-aged kids.”

I’m not even 30 and I knew the first 3 Dirty Harry movies. Tell your kids to Youtube Dirty Harry and they’ll get the best scenes as someone uploaded the very best ones. My Japanese bud also told me that Ken watanabe, who starred in Letters from iwo Jima by Clint will be remaking ‘UNFORGIVEN’ for the Japanese audience.

Clint needs to quote his line from Fistful Of Dollars:

“The heart, Barack. Always aim for the heart.”

Did you know that THE OUTLAW JOSIE WALES was written by George Wallace’s speech writer?

“Just what has this man who makes his living pretending to be other people actually accomplished?”

You might look at the many decades of Eastwood’s career, as actor, director and producer.

There is a lot there, covering a wide range of types of material.

He makes movies, movies employee people, and other people pay their money to watch the movies.

Free enterprise, entertainment industry.

I ate at the Sow’s Ear this past year, Cambria.

I guess he used to own it, or maybe still does. Quite wonderful food. Loved the atmosphere, hated I had to be going soon.

I heard it was going to be a hologram of Reagan fighting a hologram of Obama. But Reagan wins of course.

It’s because hologram Reagan is gonna have a frekkin’ laser beam attached to his head (a hologram laser beam.)

Hologram Reagan is only doing it to promote his new movie:

You guessed it: “Star Wars”.

Why would the RNC trot someone out that 60% of the public does not care for? Palin is a nice woman who got a raw deal, but having her speak tomorrow night would be beyond stupid.
