I was trying to describe Eastwood to my middle school-aged kids. Blank looks when I said “Dirty Harry” the Unforgiven. El Torino.

Huh? Those are the *new* Eastwood movies. His best ones were the "man with no name" Spaghetti Westerns. Oh, and The Outlaw Josie Wales.

1966 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

1965 For a Few Dollars More

1964 A Fistful of Dollars

What made these films great was the director Sergio Leone who used limited dialog and instead emphasized the genius of the Enno Morricone musical scores.

Did you know that THE OUTLAW JOSIE WALES was written by George Wallace’s speech writer?
