Rasmussen will be releasing a poll this morning showing Akin costing us dearly in Missouri: McCaskill 48% Akin 38%.
Time to pack it up and stop screwing us, big guy.
News From the Future...(tick, tick, tick)
There were no winners in last night's Lottery, but there are reports coming in now of several people being struck by lightning.
There is a third alternative, which is to run a 3rd party/write in candidate as the “true” Republican candidate.
While it would not help the senate race, it would go a long way to inoculate the rest of the congressional races and the presidential race in MO, as well as other senatorial races across the country, from the toxicity of Akin.
The senate race is MO is lost as far as I’m concerned as long Akin remains in, so the best way to “handle” him is simply perform a quarantine to limit the fallout to his campaign and minimize how much it affect other races.
“This issue is going to be used across the country. It is going to do damage to conservatives and the pro-life movement. He is an arrogant and egotistical ass. It needs to go away now. He needs to go away now. It is unfair. The media is unfair. But your heart is not allowing you to see political reality.”
Everything you say makes sense.
But if he won’t go voluntarily, and no legal means exists to remove his name from the ballot, pray tell how are you going to remove him?
Sure, sounds pragmatic and realistic to want him out, but how do you GET him out?
I can think of ways, but won’t mention ‘em out loud...
One other thought:
Is this not America, where ANY one who feels he has something to say can speak in the public forum, get on the ballot, and — lose badly, if his ideas and words are rejected?
Is this not the conservative ideal?
Would not removing Mr. Akin by force be behavior that we (as Freepers) attribute more to the “Chicago folks”?
Jes’ askin’...
I have held judgment until now but I'll be short: Akin is very likely going to lose, and he should drop out now. It's unconscionable to carry on like this.
Exactly. This is like macaca 2006 all over again (sorry George).
For crying out loud how hard would it be to write in Steelman (or Brunner)? Much better chance that way.
There are plenty of people who are pro-life without having to nominate a complete buffoon to win. Comparing Akin to Joe Biden isn’t doing him any favors either.
It is up to him to withdraw. Unfortunately, it has now gone beyond arrogance. It is hubris. He apparently is delusional enough to think he can win. And he insults us by saying it is not about him. Several other candidates, who could actually beat McCasKILL, are perfectly capable of carrying the pro-life banner.
We cannot mention what would happen if things were done the Chicago way. Or, Clinton’s Arkansas way.
OMG WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every day on here thread after thread on Akin. He’s not going to hurt any other Repub canidate running or the Romney/Ryan ticket since everyone under the sun has came out and denounced him. Okay so it sucks we lose a seat that was an easy win, big deal we’ll get it the next time.
Do you ever see the left hand wringing and going on and on attacking one of their own over a scandal? NO!
They let it go and cover and move on because they’re street fighters and know who to get their agenda through regardless of any obstacle.
Y’all need to let this Akin obsession go and let him die out there at the voting booth come November. Start focusing on getting other Senate and Congressional conservatives elected along with getting Ozero out of the Whitehouse.
Akin is going to stay ...the end. Why let him occupy all the conversation on the political front instead of just ignoring him and, going on to start focusing on other more important subjects...LIKE THE ECONOMY, OBAMACARE etc.
It seems to be working very well for her so far. McCaskill knew what she was doing when she spent $1.5 million to get Akin as her opponent. Her plan backfires only if Akin withdraws.
Oh well we don’t have to keep blabbing on and on about it.
It’s over and done..he’s not leaving. MOVE ON! THere are other issues more important in this election year and Romney and Ryan need to stay on the economy/debt/Obamacare meme and not let go like a dog with a bone.
If Akin gets a court order permitting him to withdraw, the Missouri Republican Party gets to replace him as the nominee-- with someone who has a chance of winning.
It’s too late imo. People will punish any republican who takes over akin’s seat even if he withdraws. Time to move on, people.
I too live in his district. Your story is mine, this is truly horrific.
MOgirl
(PS: For those that will post that this is something that any pol could overcome, think again. Women (including me and each and every woman I know) reacted to his statements in the most negative way, and that is not going to change...)
Nobody said it’s fair. But that’s life, and it’s political reality. Ignoring that on favor of what ‘should have been’ carries us nowhere.
Lmao. You might try reading the news. Or Powerline.
The Democrats are now going to more publicly embrace Sandra Fluke, in response to a gaffe by an bacure Senate candidate.
So...40 +million Catholics are going to be reminded of the religious Freedom assault in response to a gaffe.. By a nobody....
Did you skip school, the day they taught logic? The democrats sure did.
If Akin could only be like Romney... but nooooo...his voting record is just like Ryans...time for a little etch-a-sketch for ole Akin
Hey... following on the heels of this get out Akin effort.... next week at the GOP convention, conservatives need to come out and let the world know how deficient Romney is (compile each and every quote and misstatement... along with his true beliefs which are bad enough) and he should be “replaced” by someone more palatable to conservatives and the Tea Party.... sounds good to me!!!! If it works for Missouri then it should work for the rest of the country.
