Rasmussen will be releasing a poll this morning showing Akin costing us dearly in Missouri: McCaskill 48% Akin 38%.
Time to pack it up and stop screwing us, big guy.
McCaskill and the DNC won’t even have to spend any money on her campaign.
Actually, Claire's campaign has move on to bashing Akin about the head over something he said about social security. Liberals favorite MO to scare senior citizens. I know Akin could have won that argument had he not mired himself in 'legitimate rape' language.
I accept Akin’s apology and appreciate his solid conservative background. All great.
Meanwhile, he’s thrown it all out the window by refusing to exit from a race he unwittingly sabotaged. And no, I will not throw $$ to a campaign I know will end in a landslide defeat.
But none of that matters to Akin. He thinks he’s doing God’s work. Whatever.
Republicans will not defend a candidate who is shown to be an absolute fool. There’s nothing worth defending about Akin, he made a horrible unforced error, basically sounding like a backwards hick from the 15th century, it was absolutely ridiculous and the Republicans acted appropriately, politically, he’s about 6 feet under right now, the only way to save that seat is to replace him with someone who’s actually competent.
The only money she might spend is on Akin's "campaign," so she can bat him around a little longer for entertainment before obliterating him completely. Similar to how a cat "plays" with a mouse before devouring it.
“If its a legitimate poll, the Republican body should find ways to try to shut that whole Akin thing down.”
Love it :)
Are you talking about the senatorial or presidential election?
Working to help the democrat party is certainly “going rogue.”
No, and point taken.
They weren't running for Senate in a swing state.
Look, I admire your hopeful idealism, but you've GOT to connect with the dire reality of this situation. Akin has irreparably alienated the majority of Missouri's electorate and is on a path to lose massively to an erstwhile beatable incumbent. If control of the Senate and by extension the future of this country weren't in the balance, then it might be somewhat entertaining to watch this drama unfold. But there are far larger ramifications at play here.
I just can't seem to find where the "weighting" stats are given.
Questions - 2012 Missouri Senate - August 22, 2012
With all of the hubbub over how skewed the sampling has been (the "weighting system" mentioned above) (Romney Up One Nationally in a D+6 CBS/New York Times Sample) you would think that such information would be pretty helpful right now and easy to find.
Was there a D+11 sample in this poll like in the infamous CBS poll?
The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus four percentage points.
This poll also says...
Margin of Sampling Error, +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence
So where's the sampling stats? Or do they not matter as long as it shows Akin losing?
Akin costing us dearly in Missouri:

Akin didnt do it all on his lil ol lonesome
he had lots of help from Willard and his GOP-e goons...
Well said. This sorry Akin episode reminds me 100% of the Ann Richards/Clayton Williams fiasco. Williams jumped out to a huge early lead in the Texas gubernatorial race. I think it was on the strength of a tough law and order commercial in which he was shown standing by the side of a road next to a chain gang as he pointed a thumb at them and said "how would I deal with criminals? I'd introduce them to the joy of bustin' up rocks!"
Then came the infamous remark when he was socked in at an airport due to bad weather, and said "bad weather is like rape; if it's inevitable, relax and enjoy it". Next thing you know, there's Mother Richards making speeches in which she said "we know now how he feels about rape".
Claytie didn't stop there. Asked to respond to a Richards remark, Claytie quipped "is she drankin' agin'?' (Ann Richards was a recovering alcoholic). People deserted him in droves. People I knew who usually voted Republican either voted for Richards or did not vote. My wife and I voted for him anyway; but it was a wasted effort.
Ann Richards was one of the staunchest pro-abortion politicians ever. I once heard her in a speech refer to the "right to choose" as a "sacred right". Akin is Claytie Williams II.
If I were at a grocery store and someone asked me “Ever heard of anyone named Todd Akin?” I would do a quick scan through my brain and say “nope, never heard of him”.
By the time I get into my car I’ll be thinking “hmm, that name does sound familiar now that I think of it. Wait! That’s the name of the idiot in Missouri. I wonder why that man asked me if I knew him.”
What is needed is some “dirt” on akin to force the ignorant imbecile out now if not sooner.
If we lose this seat and / or Romney loses Missouri because of Akin, we now lose the ability to blame Romney and the RINOs for Obama’s victory.
The tables have turned on us. That's a set back for our movement.
This reminds me of “Medicare will wither on the vine”.
Do you remember who said that and what happened to him?
Same thing is happening to Akin, and by the same people. Republicans.
Republicans need to better understand their own psychology, because their enemy is using it as a weapon against them, and effectively so.
How far under is Joe Biden? How many democrats aren’t going to vote for their ticket becausse of his chains remark?
He isn’t, and none.
When an opponent uses a superior tactic on you, then you learn that tactic, adapt and use it against them or you get defeated by it over and over and over and over until you do learn it and use it.
It’s just that simple. This is war, and you may have to do things you don’t want to do in order to win.
