Republican Rep. Todd Akin decision to continue his campaign against Democratic incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill wasnt well received by many on the right, and perhaps one of the most exasperated reactions came from conservative talker Mark Levin.
Levin, the author of Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America, wanted his listeners to realize that there was more at stake to the race than just Todd Akin.
Now I want you to step back, which is hard to do with these emotional things step back, Levin said. In any other walk of life, if you can excuse something that is really stupid and insensitive youll go ahead and do it. But if the future of your business is at stake, if the future of a military operation is at stake, if the future of your country is potentially at stake you dont take the risk. You just dont because the country is too important. Your children and grandchildren are too important.

But for better or for worse, we're stuck with this guy.
Okay Republicans who think this way, then don’t come to me and lament Democrats who stand behind their jackasses like Reid, Pelosi, Biden, or Obama.
If we’re going to stand behind our idiots, don’t bother coming here to complain when the Democrats do it.
This double standard drives me crazy. Are we better than the Democrats or not? We continually say we are, and then we adopt their traits.
Then our leaders espouse this tactic, and we slap them on the back and call them wise.
Good grief!
There’s nothing wise about tolerating a man this foolish.
Obama's reaction...
Mark is wrong but then again he was soft on the FRC shooting too. Is this the new Romney GOP? When someone shoots themselves in the foot you don’t start shooting at them. The people squarely to blame for blowing this out of proportion is the GOP leadership which if they were putting the party first would resign and let someone better and more focused take us into NOV. The same crowd who was pushing Romney at any cost were the ones that started this disgusting pile on. Some of us will not forget.
Mark ended the hour encouraging his listeners to donate the maximum amount allowed by law if Akin decided to stay in the race.
You think what Akin said is being blown out of proportion????
I'm beginning to think all politicians are pieces of dirt. I used to think only 90% of them were.
There is nothing wise or principled in nominating a person who can not get elected. Examples:
Joe Miller in AK
Hoffman in NY-23
Sharron Angle in NV
Christine O’Donell in DE
Buck in CO
JD Hayworth in AZ
George Allen in VA
All folks above are good conservatives, pro-lifers, and decent people. But they all lost because they are lousy
politicians. Nominating has cost us seats in congress and
dumping of Obamacare on the country. We do not need to add
Mr Akin to that list.
GOP can go to court and have him removed. It is never too
late. Sarah Palin is talking about a 3rd party run in MO
to defeat McCaskill.
If Mitt's demand to drop out isn't self-immolation by pubbies, it represents continuing GOP-E efforts to knock off conservatives. The GOP-E is happy to accept crumbs off the rat table. We are not.
or, "let some of these other guys who are demanding I step aside, be the first to take the plunge, give away their spot because they put their foot in their mouth and said something out of character or made a total mistake, give up your spot, then come and tell me to do the same, you did!"
Please explain.
Yes, he put the hammer down, the hammer of God. If America is not willing to stand up for a pro-life government, then the hammer of God will come down and next year is the 40th anniversary of Roe.
C’est La Vie! There is nothing, absolutely nothing new under the sun and God hates child sacrifice and immorality. So vote for romney and expect the consequences because it is what America wants, prosperity at the cost of innocent lives and depravity.
I’m beginning to suspect this Akin is on the take.
Agree.
Our nation's economic survival stands on a precipice.
We need the Senate or Obamacare stands.
No margin for error - this is literally our last shot to save the country from a socialist program that will destroy the economy.
Heard this guy talking on Hannity and he is either a blundering fool or a willing democrat tool.
People are confusing a lack of support for this guy with a lack of loyalty. He's the one who displays a lack of loyalty to this country and our future by putting the Senate at risk.
Good grief. They're as distracted by this as the Dems would like them to be.
The absolute minimum job requirement for a politician is winning an election. If you can't win an election, said person is politically worthless. There are lots of nice, principled, politically worthless people. It is stupid to nominate those people. If you've done so in error, it is important to fire said person and undue the damage.
The people that argue otherwise simply have no grasp on political realities. Maybe a sports analogy will work for the hard heads among us? Keeping Akin around for this Senate race would be like continuing to start a QB with a broken leg. Much as you may like said QB, much as he has been a loyal employee all these years, the guy now has a broken leg and can't get the job done. He no longer meets the minimum requirements for the job. Therefore you wish said QB well and bench them.
Yes, they can. And they can then put whoever they like in his place. Since the leadership will be picking the individual, you can bet it will be someone on good speaking terms with the establishment.
Sarah Palin is talking about a 3rd party run in MO to defeat McCaskill.
I don't think that would be successful. Sarah's endorsement for a 3rd party candidate may not be as powerful as some would like to think. It sure didn't help Steelman.
Levin is nothing but a 2-bit drama queen on this as is Malkin, Hannity, Romney, etal. This moaning and bitching shows these small minded pricks for what they are!
