Akin said he has no plans to withdraw.
I dont know that Im the only person in public office whos suffered from foot-in-mouth disease here, and this was a very, very serious error. On the other hand, there are so many good people in Missouri who nominated me, and they understood my heart, Akin said.
...
Akin said no Republicans have called him and asked him to withdraw from the race.
No one has called me and said, Todd, I think you should drop out, Akin said. No one has said that. But I gather people are saying that in the media, but they didnt specifically call me and tell me that.

If I was the new GOP candidate, I would put thison Mcaskill and state if she would not have spent the $2 million on trying to elect Akin, we wouldn’t have had this mess.

That’s exactly what most in the democrat party are saying too.
His exit is needed yesterday.
The guy at least deserves an award for being the Uniter of the Year.
He’s united Republicans, Democrats, and Independents in disgust for him.
Is it that bad on Hannity? Wow.
How stupid is this man? How deeply damaged is his candidacy?
Here’s a test you can run: Try saying the same kind of thing to your wife, daughter or girlfriend. See how long it takes you to get out of the mess you just created. Oh, and good luck to you if you run the test.
And this has nothing to do with what is true or not. Akin is permanently etched into the female memory as something to be avoided.
Also, he will become the Tom Foley of this election cycle, if he continues. He will do damage far beyond the borders of Missouri.
If he steps down, I imagine she’d be pissed, that’s 2 million dollars the she blew for a minimal return on investment, if he stays in, that’s the best 2 million any campaign has ever spent.
He is not dropping out. He is probably getting a huge infusion of cash from Soros right now...lol.
No heart? WE HAVE STANDARDS. Or at least some of us do. What said was so inexplicably awkward and completely idiotic that there is NO coming back. Nobody forced him into that answer, he did it all on his own, and you can be very sure that this won’t be the last such gaffe from this guy. He needs to go, and he needs to go now.
and McCaskill. LOL.
He sounds like a selfish little man at this point. Soros is probably pouring millions into his campaign right now to keep the imbecile in the race.
It's unfortunate, but when something this reprehensible is uttered, it's the hook.
Leftists never apologize, never give in, and they never tear down their own people in power no matter how many mistakes they make.
Yes they do, but it wouldn't matter if they didn't. We are an honorable party. When you say frog-shit, you dance, in our party.
Hannity is practically begging him to get out. And you are right...if he stays in we can look forward to more awkward and stupid gaffes.
Oh joy.
No one is answering. I tried calling his campaign, his district office and his Washington office and there was no answer anyplace and they are not taking voice messages.
The 2012 Darwin Political Overachiever Award goes to
'They call the wind 'Macaca'!' by Clod Akin
He's been in the HOuse how long? Order up some plasma, time to beef up the herd with a transfusion.
“...and the Clayton Williams Foot in Mouth Award Goes to.....”
What he said was flat out stupid, not even misconstrued, it was wrong, period.
He scored a perfect 10 from the lower platform, and dove HIMSELF under that bus.
This thing will fester until the elections, nothing good will come of this if he stays in the race.
