A Chesterfield County man and Marine veteran is in a local hospital after being picked up by federal and local law enforcement officials concerned about threatening Internet postings.
Brandon J. Raub, 26, was in Hopewell's John Randolph Medical Center on Saturday.
"I'm currently in John Randolph in the psychiatric ward being held against my will," Raub said in a telephone interview.
Reports of his detention Thursday have gone viral on the Internet.
Raub said Secret Service, FBI and Chesterfield police officers came to his home Thursday. "They were concerned about me calling for the arrest of government officials," he said.
He was taken to the Chesterfield police station and then to the hospital, he said.
[snip]
Raub said he does not own a gun.

And so what... “Impeach the SOB” is a time honored rant and has never been viewed as anything other than political speech no matter how implausible the call. Unless the kook(?) planned to carry this out himself, rather than attempting to persuade the proper agents to do so, this is political speech. The protection of the law should be afforded to anyone from Jim Rob down to this kook. And no fair kafkaizing him in a mental hospital. I say better to do that to certain politicians.
Arrest? That’s all?
Arrest? That’s all?
Without even mussing them up? (pace Henery Hawk)
A guy I know who has been holding up signs and protesting his arrest told me he was going to court Monday morning. Supposedly the guys sister told him that. How would he be going to court and what is the charge ? Also he was told that he called for a civil war and that he would lead it. Not sure what all he said, just what I heard. I think it is ridiculous the guy has been arrested and put in the phsyco sp ? ward. Also heard the guy has been in the military.
“Well, it just goes to show you that one shouldnt use Facebook as an outlet to express ones political thoughts.”
IMHO.......THE absolute wrong response..in fact, it just is a primo demonstration that we have effectively been transformed into a police state....with no accountability. Trying to admit otherwise is avoiding the responsibility each owes to freedom.
People just don’t see the fascist President they elected. Putting faith in a man was only good once in history. After that even every other man have been failures.
It sure seems that Obummer and gang are waging an uncivil war against America right now.
If somebody could show us what the purported incendiary internet postings were, it might be enlightening. To this point, it sounds like any talk of civil war was figurative and is legally protected as political speech. You have a legal right here to call for any political regime you want, even one that would change the constitution in implausible ways and do illogical things.
And even the sinless Savior had difficulty getting a lot of people to believe at first. People were expecting an earthly king rather than a heavenly one.
It makes no sense to me to fight this battle on Facebook where the larger population occupying said battlefield are idiots who couldn't be convinced away from their ideology anyway.
It is just asking the government to pick up the insurgent stragglers on the ideological battlefield where there are plenty of Vichy collaborators.
As you indicate, we have been transformed into a [virtual] police state. Why walk around with a "disappear me" sign on Facebook?
And God warned the Jews about Kings. That warning is still valid today.
I heard about this incident from a YouTube channel I’m subscribed to:

Agree, one guy told me he heard that he called for a revolution which of course could be political and non violent. His family has visited him and I was hoping the guys would see if they could go in and talk to him and get his story. Maybe they will today. Several people were protesting and holding up free speech signs. I doubt they would allow visitors other than family though.
I’ m afraid however, we’re about at the end of the awkward stage.....the one where the only, and very last resort is rapidly becoming the “ cartridge box”.....
“America is at that awkward stage. It’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards.”
- Claire Wolfe, 101 Things to Do ‘Til the Revolution
It will take a profoundly energetic and in independent Tea Party Congress...with lots of insulation from the DC K st lobbying crowd, to defund enough agencies and programs to turn this around
Any earthly king is liable to lapse into selfishness and sin, and vitiate whatever advantage is gained from strategic earthly leadership. The US system has prospered as far as it has because it is designed to be constitutionally governed and kingless, not that Emperor Barack has cared.
A man makes the understatement of the year and gets arrested.
While I acknowledge that this administration ignores and subverts the Constitution, aren’t there time limits on detentions? At some point don’t they have to officially arrest him under public charges or let him go? I thought there were limits on psychiatric detentions for observation. Perhaps these vary from State to State?
