A Chesterfield County man and Marine veteran is in a local hospital after being picked up by federal and local law enforcement officials concerned about threatening Internet postings.
Brandon J. Raub, 26, was in Hopewell's John Randolph Medical Center on Saturday.
"I'm currently in John Randolph in the psychiatric ward being held against my will," Raub said in a telephone interview.
Reports of his detention Thursday have gone viral on the Internet.
Raub said Secret Service, FBI and Chesterfield police officers came to his home Thursday. "They were concerned about me calling for the arrest of government officials," he said.
He was taken to the Chesterfield police station and then to the hospital, he said.
[snip]
Raub said he does not own a gun.

Hum, all agencies deny arresting him. Probably using Patriot Act indefinite detention provisions. Where is ACLU? Where are veteran groups?
Neither the SS or the FBI admits to having charged or arrested him; the local police department claims they are only “assisting” the FBI/SS - whoever. Yet, the man has been committed to a psychiatric ward for an indeterminate diagnosis. His crime? “Arrest some government officials” and the like. Comments one could arguably be considered far less caustic than made here on a wide number of topics.
No one in the article asks, or indicates just where the SS or the FBI got hold of the comments and connected them to Raub (the internee) or by what authority they did so.
Well, at least the authorities admit he exists. The next step might be just to disappear people.
Probably some local reporter got wind and thought he'd break a real terrorism story.
In Obama's post 2012 America, pesky things like reporters will be tightly controlled - they won't be able to 'free-range' as previously.

Well, it just goes to show you that one shouldn’t use Facebook as an outlet to express one’s political thoughts.
Some rabid liberal likely just dropped a dime on him to the FBI claiming terrorism, etc. and that was all it took.
Someone is watching Facebook pretty closely if they are reading this guys posts.
Well, it just goes to show you that one shouldnt use Facebook as an outlet to express ones political thoughts. You're right! It's amazing what is said on Facebook. Here's his page, it has not been removed: https://www.facebook.com/brandon.raub?sk=wall
Note tagline. It is not merely the forgotten distant past. The recent past is every bit as enslaving. Those (who like me are) concerned about the horrors of slavery, in all its horrifying forms, would be wise to ponder this.

But no leftist activist or government agency would ever think to monitor what is said on a place like Free Republic, where logins could be traced back to IP addresses...
Freightening.
That’s precisely why I often practice the art of self-censorship.

They’d probably like to lock up a bunch of US, too... only problem is they’d have to get a subpoena to find out who we are, and they have no legal grounds for getting one.
On Facebook they already know who you are, so they just go get you.
Either someone's made a big mistake here or else this guy's done more than just call for someone's *arrest*.Hell, weren't the Rat Marxists routinely calling for W to be arrested and sent to The Hague as a war criminal?

It’s more a discipline than an art. A discipline I seem not to have mastered sometimes...
Good for you for practicing self control.
