Frederic Chopin wrote some nocturnes in 1831 that passed his test for quality. The first of the Opus 9 collection is a heartbreaker. Watch the score and note how Fred uses the right hand for operatic excursions around the theme while the left hand maintains a steady but flexible beat.

The second nocturne from this set is one of the best known piano pieces in the entire repertory, and every child pianist tries to master it.

No rain. Corn is a lost cause for the mulch pile. I did can 4 quarts of tomatoes this morning and 4 pounds of butter. Next week I’ll focus on pears and chillies. Tonight’s juke is an Aerosmith Blitzkrieg as I have to stand an overnight watch at the church. We’re having FUNDAY event tomorrow with game tents, a dunking booth and a Noah’s Ark inflatable. It’s not wise to leave it unattended overnight so I’m standing the night watch beginning at midnight so hang on as I post like a madman.
