Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.
Romney fought gay marriage in his state to the end. Making lawyers pay the actual, un-subsidized cost of their bar exams isn't a 'tax.' The 'ruined' MASS GOP elected Scott Brown.
You speak of honesty but you don't know the meaning of the word. But it's cool - less and less people are listening, and I almost didn't bother to respond.
A what?
An anti-socon trolling on a thread for days because he can’t stand socons and Christians, so he fights a proxy war as a Mormon warrior, that isn’t a conspiracy, it is just a tactic that liberal trolls use to fight in anger against Christians and social conservatives.
We have seen it here for years, their hatred and bigotry fighting under a false flag.
They are obsessed enough to spend days as trolls for the anti-Christian religion of Mormonism, although in reality they themselves are neither Christian, or Mormon.
Like this, you mean?

Are we at the part where they start sacrificing the chickens and speaking in tongues yet?
Sadly, both of those VPs would be improvements over the top of the ticket. (And no, I am not advocating anything that would lead to the death of any elected official — in America, we change our leaders via the ballot box, not violence, and if we vote in bad people we get what we deserve.)
I think we all realize the pros and cons of Ryan vis-a-vis Romney.
I'm not defending VP Joe Biden, but by the standards of the Democratic Party he's better than a fair number of alternatives. Being pro-police, having a son in uniform, and being a longtime supporter of veterans is not enough, but he's better than President Obama. Also, he actually had significant experience in government rather than being an unqualified amateur.
I'm well aware of Biden’s liberal positions and liberal voting record. None of that is enough to vote for Joe Biden. It just points out how bad President Obama is when Joe Biden would be an improvement.
Sorry, not buying it. There are plenty of teachings of other religions that I would not subscribe to and may think a bit loopy, but unless the candidates are going to try and implement some aspect of their religious beliefs through their political and legislative agenda in a way that would have a negative impact, such beliefs would not likely impact my choice unless I had other beefs with the person. And I have to say, all the Mormons I have ever met have been extremely decent, moral, family-oriented people. I could never believe the silliness of the Book of Mormon, but I would certainly not withhold a vote from someone solely because of their Mormon beliefs. Conservatism is a broad based tent that you pragmatically have to try to inch rightwards while conserving the coalition. Whatever happened to Reagan’s eleventh commandment? The frequenters of this website are becoming ridiculous in their objective support for the Marxist Obama by their hyper purist hatred and demonization of Romney. The primaries are the time to show what direction one wants the party to go in. One has to take a broader and more pragmatic view in the general election. And this constant meme that Romney is “just the same” as Obama is just lunacy. Romney actually believes in the existence of a free market and a healthy private sector. Obama is a statist through and through. As a social conservative, I do believe Romney is a bit wet on those issues, but his movement has been in a positive direction, and based on my knowledge of Mormons and on his private family life, I do think he is at heart a believer in traditional family values. I despair for this country, and the Romney hatred promoted on this site is not constructive at this time. And even with a great pick like Ryan, it is of course never good enough for the blind purists here... Sheesh.
If you want slavish devotion to the republican party you probably need to look at republican sites, this is an independent conservative, site, and Romney is an anti-conservative liberal.
Bishop Mitt Romney is the most radically left wing candidate in history for the GOP, and one of the most radically leftist of either parties, in American history.
It has nothing to do with outcomes. It has to do with defending the principles upon which we all stand. Endorsing Romney means throwing every single principle of Conservatism under the bus...
I do not expect Christians to compromise their deeply held convictions wrt 'Right to Life' and 'Sanctity of marriage' in order to put this mook in office... But the ABO crowd around here does.
I do not expect Military conservatives to vote for a guy whose whole family does not have a single member who served... But the ABO crowd does.
I do not expect fiscal conservatives to suddenly throw out Austrian Capitalism in favor of Keynesian economics... but the ABO crowd does.
I do not expect civil libertarians to give up the Constitution, small government, and RKBA in favor of gun control, enabling federal power, and the belief that the Constitution is a 'living document'... But the ABO crowd does.
Never in my life have Conservatives rolled over on these issues for the sake of expediency (not to mention all of them at once), and I don't expect they will now - Because rolling over on these issues will certainly leave them wholly undefended (never to be championed again), and will remove the last vestiges of opposition to liberalism.
This is an election of dire consequence, to be sure:
Many say that there will be nothing left to defend after 4 more years of Obama...
I would say that without these truths, which we hold are self-evident, there is nothing left to save.
Thank you for stating the plain, unvarnished fact of the matter so succinctly... and so eloquently. ;)
Amazing, social conservatism is what creates and enables fiscal conservatism when everyone in the nation has a vote.
More than that, it can be argued that every outstanding expense in our country can be directly linked to a departure from the Judeo-Christian ethic... Hence, a return to that ethic is what will make fiscal conservatism possible. As an example: The welfare train derails and becomes quite manageable if there are few single parents and bastard children... Solid marriages with male influence would reduce crime dramatically... reducing the police state and enabling cost reductions all the way down to street level... And et cetera infinitum...
Our FRiend is not wrong... but he forgets that the fiscal liberty of bygone days belonged to a largely good and moral people.
Do not be a little conservative, be a full conservative, all three legs.
BRAVO!This is the very foundation of Reagan Conservatism: One faction is no better than the other. Without all of the principles of Conservatism, the factional principles of each respectively will be lost. We need each other.
Good post.
Well bottom line is this in this election America has a really big gut check coming up. Do you vote for one of the two establishment front runners that will enslaved us to big government even more or do you say no to both and stand on principles that we have which are true to what our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and The Declaration of Independence which give us our freedoms and liberties that are from our Creator God Almighty.
The choice is a very simple one which is to either sell out to the establishment and vote for big government and less freedom, does not matter which of the two parties, or break the shackles of the two parties that will pantomime to who ever their respective audience is for votes knowing full well that they will shaft any group for their own agenda. So the choice is up to you keep selling out your principles and beliefs on down the road for bigger government enslavement hopeing one day a polictal savior will show up and turn things around or do you make a stand and Fight for Freedom and Liberty that America is all about.
Do you really think the Founding Fathers of this country, who fought a revolution for freedom, who put their lives and families lives on the line that if captured would be put to death, would be arguing about voting for the lesser of two evils or do you think they would be leading the fight to say No! not any more to this monstrosity that American Government has become. America Where Are You Now!!!
[Laughing] Remember the Star Trek episode where the big scary monsters turned out to be squeaking, writhing, wormy little creatures that helplessly squealed their outrage, but had no power at all?
That reminds me of you.
I just love the way you truncate my quote and criticize your own construction of what I said.
That was very leftist of you. Do you frequently use leftist methods when you’re being thrashed in a conversation?
And we’ll do it withOUT he namecalling.
Some OTHER folks could learn something from us.
Just they've failed to do anything about abortion.
But we'll sure eat a dead bird for Jesus!
Actually; it's an IGNORANT Christendom we are dealing with - not weak.
When we get pointed in the same direction; WATCH OUT!
(I've been speaking of American Christendom; as the African and Asia ones are growing in the faith and in numbers.)
Likewise...
...still waiting for you to produce all those posts where you said you said good things about the Christians who point out the heresy of MORMONism.
You ARE?
Do you do birthday parties?
You might know Homey - he’s fairly well known in certain circles.
Maybe; maybe not.
Since MORMONism is ruled by lily-livered weasels, who have tossed their god (one of them at least) under the bus in favor of following the dictates of Washington, D.C. (Yeah; they'll knuckle under to what EVER Uncle Sam says or allows) one could reasonably ask if ALL of D&C 132 is now defunct...

1
Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many awives and bconcubines2 Behold, and lo, I am the Lord thy God, and will answer thee as touching this matter.
3 Therefore, aprepare thy heart to receive and bobey the instructions which I am about to give unto you; for all those who have this law revealed unto them must obey the same.
4 For behold, I reveal unto you a new and an everlasting acovenant; and if ye abide not that covenant, then are ye bdamned; for no one can creject this covenant and be permitted to enter into my glory.
5 For all who will have a ablessing at my hands shall abide the blaw which was appointed for that blessing, and the conditions thereof, as were instituted from before the foundation of the world.
6And as pertaining to the new and aeverlasting covenant, it was instituted for the fulness of my bglory; and he that receiveth a fulness thereof must and shall abide the law, or he shall be damned, saith the Lord God.
58Now, as touching the law of the apriesthood, there are many things pertaining thereunto.
59Verily, if a man be called of my Father, as was aAaron, by mine own voice, and by the voice of him that bsent me, and I have endowed him with the ckeys of the power of this priesthood, if he do anything in my name, and according to my law and by my word, he will not commit dsin, and I will justify him.
60Let no one, therefore, set on my servant Joseph; for I will justify him; for he shall do the sacrifice which I require at his hands for his transgressions, saith the Lord your God.
61And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthoodif any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse aanother, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.
62And if he have aten virgins given unto him by this law, he cannot commit adultery, for they belong to him, and they are given unto him; therefore is he justified.
63But if one or either of the ten virgins, after she is espoused, shall be with another man, she has committed adultery, and shall be destroyed; for they are given unto him to amultiply and replenish the earth, according to my commandment, and to fulfil the promise which was given by my Father before the foundation of the world, and for their exaltation in the eternal worlds, that they may bear the souls of men; for herein is the work of my Father continued, that he may be bglorified.
64And again, verily, verily, I say unto you, if any man have a wife, who holds the keys of this power, and he teaches unto her the law of my priesthood, as pertaining to these things, then shall she believe and administer unto him, or she shall be destroyed, saith the Lord your God; for I will destroy her; for I will magnify my name upon all those who receive and abide in my law.
65Therefore, it shall be lawful in me, if she receive not this law, for him to receive all things whatsoever I, the Lord his God, will give unto him, because she did not believe and administer unto him according to my word; and she then becomes the transgressor; and he is exempt from the law of Sarah, who administered unto Abraham according to the law when I commanded Abraham to take aHagar to wife.
66And now, as pertaining to this law, verily, verily, I say unto you, I will reveal more unto you, hereafter; therefore, let this suffice for the present. Behold, I am Alpha and Omega. Amen.
That is merely the ATTENTION!!! getting part.

You havent answered a single question with a pro-CHRISTIAN answer.
Given his record I’d vote for him in a heart beat.
If Mitts record was even close I would for him without any reservations.
It’s not.
