WASHINGTON — Concerning Mormons and Republicans, history offers a large helping of irony. In 1843, an Army officer named John C. Fremont led a geographical expedition of 39 men more than 1,700 miles to the shores of the Great Salt Lake. His report on the journey inspired hounded Mormons to mount their wagons and resettle in the Great Basin.
Thirteen years later in Philadelphia, Fremont became the first presidential nominee of the Republican Party, which adopted a platform opposing the "twin relics of barbarism — Polygamy, and Slavery." The slogan, and the anti-Mormon sentiment behind it, caught on. A Republican rally in Indianapolis, reportedly attended by 60,000 people, included an ox-drawn parade wagon depicting Brigham Young along with six wives dressed in hoop skirts, each with a little Brigham in her arms.
...In the typology of sociologists Robert Putnam and David Campbell, Mormons remain a rejected "out-group," unlike accepted "in-groups" such as Catholics and Jews. Large majorities of Americans perceive Mormonism as "very different" from their own religious beliefs.
But in this case, the counsel of religious reticence is wrong. Romney should not be afraid to highlight his faith.

Questions remain about the role of Mormonism in depressing evangelical political enthusiasm. Some religious conservatives are concerned that a Romney presidency would provide theological legitimacy for a rival, proselytizing faith. But it is unclear how silence from Romney on religion would mitigate this fear. And a portion of the evangelical enthusiasm gap is explainable for another reason entirely: the suspicions of social conservatives about the authenticity of Romney's social conservatism.

To answer your questions, I try extremely hard to love Muslims. I fear them and the harm they mean to my family and country. I have actually had a family member blown up by a bomb by a Muslim so the fear is real. I struggle extremely hard to love Muslims, and Mormons, and atheists, and even other Christians at times. But I confess I have to struggle the hardest to love Muslims. And you?

Clever, but it still doesn't change the fact that there are so many on this thread that hate Mormons that they lose sight of logic and reason.
Not saying that is you necessarily but there are many. Generally speaking, they use lots of CAPS to illustrate their hate.

I'm getting the impression from your phrasing that you agree it is wrong to put words in each others' mouths but won't acknowledge you are doing it until "my group" says they are doing the same? Am I correct or misunderstanding you?
I am not part of any "group"... I've been here almost 10 years so I am sure I have been on the same threads as some of the other posters in the past, but, my apologies to them, I don't ever recall any specific conversations we've had prior to my encountering Colornian's thread two days ago. I am not part of any ping list being used on these articles. It's just me responding to your comments to me. You state you are a Christian and I am blessed to be able to say I am born again, so I am trying to discuss this with you on that level.
No, I am not willing to allow a Mormon to be my LEADER LOL The only ones I look to for Leadership are Jesus, my Pastor and my husband.
But when it is versus a Muslim, I am willing to allow a Mormon to be Commander-in-Chief, the man in the White House who will sign bills sent over by a Republican Congress rather than veto them, and the man who will choose between 2-4 Supreme Court Justices in his term.
I agree. I do believe that the country is in a triage situation. We have to stop the bleeding by evicting the current Occupier_WH now. We can deal with Romney later if he once agains doesn't live up to his campaign rhetoric.
