The Obama campaign has spent millions of dollars on ads trying to destroy Mitt Romney; the latest being the "Romney Killed My Wife" ad. The "Tax Return thing" with Harry Reid, even using the Senate floor and his office for political purposes, is another of the latest. Through all of this, the Romney camp has been somewhat impotent in responding. The Chicago Thug Campaign Brigade is winning right now. Negativity does work. Which begs to question....
Could the Romney camp have an October Surprise, or even an earlier "surpise", that will be extremely damaging to Obama's reelection chances? Romney proved in the Primary Season that he can be destructivley tough. Why the laid-back attitude now? Romney is no dummy. I've just got a sneaky hunch that after the Convention, the Romney camp will release something that will be damning to Obama but for now, they're just sitting back grinning and thinking: "Just you wait Barack Obama; just you wait."
I also understand that a sample of 1000 yields an uncertainty of +/- 3.16% but that does not change the fact that Others intentionally slant their samples, but the sleaze in some polling is not the only reason for these results."
Maybe I'm paranoid but I sometimes feel the media attempts to manipulate rather than report.
Maybe the Romney surprise will be that he will endorse 0bama. They have the same policy positions so they might want to form a dual conselship as in Rome.
Oh you are so right, there is no difference between the two. We must realize that Romney too is a globalist that wants to establish a dictatorship under UN control and abolish the Constitution. We know that Romney will rule by EO and disavow his pledges to control the border and repeal 0-care.
OFA, vote for Goode (sarc)
I should have been more precise in my wording. There are pollsters who intentionally slant their results - through wording bias, non-random samples, or other options. There are also honest pollsters. Even these honest pollsters show a rough tie in the swing states: Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Virginia. And, yes, the media manipulate instead of reporting. As one journalist told me, "by selecting which facts to report or even lying when necessary, I can tell a higher truth through the story." [Okay, two decades later, that's not a literal quote, but it's at least a close paraphrase with the same tone as the original statement.]
The surprised one wil be Willard...
Obama has quite an arsenal on Willard...
There is NOTHING that embarrasses democrats.
How about an October Surprise at the end of September 2008?
Did you overlook Paulson's and Benanke's panic call to George Bush that the financial world was ready to explode in a matter of hours if he didn't immediately give them carte blanche to spend $700 billion dollars as they saw fit with no accountability or reporting required?
And did you miss out on all the ensuing panic and crazy maneuvering by all the major players in the weeks before the election?
Of course, the only one who didn't seem to be in a panic was Obama - almost as if he had insider information on the supposed crisis.
For most Republicans the Party is a political/social club. They grant that the Democrats are the nation's natural rulers and Republicans just want to be part of the oligarchy with their club. The Nomination is the ultimate degree of attainment. The Presidency is just a pain in the ass better left to the Democrats who rare the ordained rulers, the True King as it were.
D@mn herd mentality.
I think the best October surprise is to start playing back all the stupid things obummer and biden have said. That would fill the airwaves until the election.
The problem with the dims is that they are making stuff up so incredibly stupid (Romney is at war with women, Romney is a felon, word is out, Romeny doesn't pay taxes) that even if they have a legitimate surprise it has already been diluted.
That DWI charge gutted W. days before the election and put the 2000 race into the history books, a weaker/typical republican would have conceded the race to Gore rather than fight it to the Supreme Court.
The October surprise against H W Bush (the indictment of Caspar Weinberger) came out on the Friday before the election and killed his momentum and what appeared to be a GOP victory in 1992.
“PREDICTION: This time it will be a desperate Obama who will create an October surprise so bad the government may have to suppress the citizenry using homeland security forces and their hollow point bullets on us.”

He better because the way Romney is going he is going to lose.
This campaign so far is a disaster.
You may claim it is lame (and it indeed was a lame charge) but it did have impact. Most folks feel it cost him a few points in the popular vote, and thus put the election into overtime with the Florida mess. Seems to me it almost worked.
A few days ago, the WaPo came out with a poll in which they claimed to oversample Demonrats by an 11 point advantage. That would have been journalistic malfeasance at its best, but when they had over 35% of the polled claiming to be independent, but the internals show that over 48% of the “independents” polled are actually registered Demonrats, you know the poll is seriously screwed up, and it only had Obambi up by a few points.
Lame. Revealing a DUI from 25 years earlier? Hardly an October Surprise (or even November Surprise).

Your memory is either very faulty or you were not “tuned in” to the 2000 Election. It was a very big freakin’ deal. It cost George W. a lot of votes and could have cost him the Election. It was scary.
There is something to say about keeping your powder dry but , you have to know how to use it also.
Your Post #31 is very encouraging. I just hope you’re right.
