I am aware that many conservatives, Tea Party, and strict constitutionalists, have deep apprehension about Romney.. That is mostly based on what he actually did as the Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007.. Past facts, are almost always the very best indicator of the true intent of a future development.. I couldn't agree more..

FACTS: Mitt Romney, is a fine husband and father, and was and is also a successful and an astute businessman, for a much longer period of time, than a one term Governor..

FACTS: Mitt Romney, has a life that is an open book, picked at, and dissected as only a Republican Candidate for a higher political office will be..

FACTS: Mitt Romney, has lived in and successfully conducted businesses, and held the highest political office in Massachusetts, arguably one of the MOST LIBERAL States in The USA..

FACTS: There are at least 65,000 CEO's of major corporations in the USA, Mitt Romney, was chosen, selected, and accepted the unthinkable, and thankless task of resurrecting, restructuring, reconfigured and managed the 2002 Winter Olympics as President and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee, and independently turn the troubled games into a visual, as well as a financial success.. What's killing FR is not that we are having this debate. It's that there is so damn much personal drama being invested in these threads.

It is possible for conservatives in good faith to disagree about whether or not to vote for Romney, and to remain conservatives none the less. I do not plan to vote for him, but I respect the opinion of those who do.

And if I were a mod here, anyone who used an word ending in "-bot" to refer to another Freeper would immediately have their posting privileges revoked for a two week cool-off period.

Romney won in Mass. not exactly a conservative State.

Polls have shown MA is about equally divided between liberal and conservative. Remember, Reagan carried MA both times. However, the MA GOP is liberal, so neither major party ever offers us a truly conservative candidate.

Our last conservative governor (as opposed to Republicans Weld, Celucci, Swift and Romney) was Ed King, back in the 80s -- and he was a Democrat!

I am in a quite a position. You and others claim that if I do not vote for Mitt, it counts for Obama. It follows that if I do not vote for Obama, it counts for Romney. My vote then counts for three people!

Well, I've been on this forum since 1998....and I know Carlo3b, the poster of this thread, as one of FR's finest.

He's had the most undeserved aspersions cast against him in remarks by the Obama supporters and potty-mouths, but he takes it all in stride and rebuts robustly.

Who is he? I know him as a fellow freeper, a great conservative, entrepeneur.....and a gentleman. He's an accomplished chef, restauranteur, author and designer. He's the father of five and grandfather of five.

Many freepers have long enjoyed his vanity posts on such holidays as Thanksgiving and Christmas where he recalls warm memories of past years in the busy Italian family kitchens of yesterday....the grandmas, the aunts, the mothers, the patriarchs, the little kids, the bubbling pots of sauces, the togetherness. Carlos' beautifully-written posts bring back memories for all of us.

As "Bahama Mama", I organized three fund-raising FR cruises to the Caribbean. When I needed table or game prizes I could call on Carlo to donate bound copies of the marvelous freeper "Clinton Legacy Cookbook" to help the cause. He would ship a case of the books to me to take on the cruises....and what wonderful prizes they were.

Carlo put the cookbook together, edited it, wrote witty copy for it and published it. It contains recipes from scores of freeper, both past and present. What a great legacy from FR's chef-in-chief!

Again, thanks for your many donations in our fund-raising efforts, FRiend. You're a warm, caring man....and scarcely deserving of the remarks and disparaging name-calling of bitter, unhappy people.

I've never felt any compunction to be lectured to. Mittbots would be well served to just STFU on FR...they aren't helping their cause.

We understand the importance of this election, but we also understand that John McCain likely would have been as bad as Obama. The only saving grace he had was Sarah. If the Republican Party continues to disregard/denigrate Sarah and Tea Partiers, then why should we vote for someone who thinks he doesn't need our vote?

I too have been a freeper since 2000. Carlo3b has been a conservative poster here as well since before that. I don't know who you people are that are posting such vial retorts but please people use some sense of civility. I realize this is going to be the most important election of our time, but hostility is not the way to go. We desperately need to come to a consensuses.. Shutting off debate hasn't brought about a satisfactory result.. Flame-wars hasn't worked so well either.. DUH!

I'm not looking for agreement, not even stalemate.. We need a plan..

MOST on this site want to bring our Country back from the BRINK.. Some do not.. Some are here to undermine our effort to unseat the Commie regime, currently occupying our White House and most of Congress..

WE NEED A WORKABLE PLAN, to get our first priority accomplished.. Kick Obama, and his comrades, out of our White House, out of our businesses, out of our lives.. If we can't agree on that simple FACT, we are doomed, not only in this election, but probably, forever..

We need to set a common goal to get through this election.. I really am disappointed with how we got to this point in ending up with our current nominee, Mitt Romney.. He wasn't my 1st choice, nor was he my 2nd..

Here is the rub, he may be the only man with a resume, and background to get the job done until we can fix the BIG problem for the next election primary..

I believe the current landscape is promising.. The Tea Party has taught everyone that we are still in control when we actually VOTE.. Manipulated Polls, are meaningless at this time in the election cycle..

Please understand, I do not propose to have the wisdom to assuage the disbelievers,(although, you are free to disagree).. I am asking the proponents, of the situation that I am outlining to describe a plan that accomplishes the PRIORITY GOAL, THIS TIME, UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES!

I don't want to look back on Nov 7th, and think I didn't do my part to change the results..
