Milwaukee, WI Fresh off a historic upset victory in Texas, Tea Party Express, the nations largest tea party political action committee, proudly announced their endorsement of Mark Neumann (for Senate) today in Milwaukee, WI. Tea Party Express also announced a 3-day bus tour for Neumann next week.
Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said, We are excited to be here in Wisconsin today to announce our endorsement of Mark Neumann for the U.S. Senate. Mark earned the support of the Tea Party Express, and tea party members from every corner of Wisconsin, because he is the only one with a plan that cuts spending, balances the budget, and repeals ObamaCare. He understands that we must get back to Constitutional principles in Washington. And, he is the one with the proven record of doing all this before.
Neumann understands the free market, job creation, and fiscal responsibility. We cannot continue down the path we are currently on; Neumanns experience and committed pro-growth solutions that enhance individual liberty and responsibility are exactly what we need in the next U.S. Senator from Wisconsin.
Wisconsins yearlong recall battle, which ultimately ended in a massive tea party victory galvanized the movement and created a powerful network that will be decisive in November. Neumann understands the grassroots and is ready to mobilize the vast network that is in place to insure a commanding November victory. We are going to do everything we can to help him secure the nomination and go on to win in November, Kremer concluded.
The organization is attending a series of events throughout the day and the schedule is as follows:
9:30 AM Milwaukee War Memorial
750 N Lincoln Memorial
Milwaukee, WI 53202
12:15 PM Leicht Memorial Park
128 Dousman St.
Green Bay, WI 54303
3:15 PM Wisconsin State Capitol
2 East Main Street
Madison, WI 53703
I was in error, Neumann hasn’t run 6 times... he’s run 7. Of the two races he did manage to win, his “greatest” margin of victory was 4,000 votes (50.8%) over a Democrat moonbat in his last successful run for office. He blew a winnable special election in 1993 against Peter Barca when Les Aspin vacated the seat (Neumann ran against Aspin, and Aspin obliterated him by almost 17%), and even when he defeated Barca the next year, he still couldn’t get to 50% even as the GOP landslide swept the nation (indeed, absent that sweep, Neumann would never have even won office at all). As long as Neumann remained in that seat, he was at risk for defeat (yet when Ryan succeeded him in 1998, he blew away that same moonbat Neumann did in ‘96, but Ryan won by over 14% as Neumann went down to the unpopular Feingold).
I’ll say it again, what has Neumann done to earn election to the office ? What has he done lately ? Basically, you can sum him up as a career political office-seeker for 20 years who had two terms in office that ended 14 years ago, for which he could barely hold (and only won in the first place due to a national sweep).
And Syncro, yes you did attempt to link the discussion of Neumann with a comparison to Ted Cruz. Go look up your post #20. You still have yet to come up with a compelling reason to support Neumann given the above record.
NSS.
I do believe it was I who brought Cruz into this conversation.
NOT comparing him to Neumann, but glad to see FR "fighting" amongst each other over who is MORE conservative....instead of the usual LESS RINO.
I am happy to see conservatives going up against the established GOP-e.
Look at how many conservatives are now running in so many states against incumbents. THAT was my whole point...and one I am VERY happy to see.

"Cruz v. Dewhurst was one on one...this is different."
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2914379/posts?page=17#17
"There were many others before the Cruz/Dewhurst run-off. Dewhurst finished first and Cruz second."
Tex-Con, I only pinged you because I quoted you
gorush....I do believe THAT is what Syncro was talking about (if I'm wrong, please correct me).

"Im glad it came down to a two man race, conservative v. rino. Here in Wisc. its 3 conservatives v. one rino.
That is what Syncro and I were talking about.....3 conservative vs. 1 RINO.
Count me in that group!
"There are three solidly conservative candidates running: Hovde, Fitzgerald, and yes even Neumann."
It was I who caused the "ruckus". Your last quote is what we were talking about and why I was so happy. It seems to be catching on across the country, which is even more exciting.
I LOVE Walker. Donated and even did the "recall sig verification" online, in which they dismissed. Very happy to see him win AGAIN, with an even bigger margin that his "official" run!
The only thing I know about WI (I'm in stinky NY) is that Walker did exactly what he promised to do and did it w/ in 1 year. God Bless that man!
The full throated, early and often endorsement of Cruz by Mark Levin may have been what helped him go from a relatively unknown to front runner status in such a short time. Cruz himself gave a great deal of the credit to Levin.
I'm not sure how this compares to what's gong on in Wisconsin, or if there is a chance for a run-off.
Me neither. But who would have thunk a run-off would occur in TX? I highly doubt anyone saw that coming from the start; hence, the "upset".
I'm just happy there are conservatives now running against the establishment....and kicking butt!
Thanks, but that is not the issue the poster was speaking about.
I early on mentioned that this thread was looking like a Cruz thread a while back.
That was only because of the similarity of posters thinking that Neumann didn't have a chance, just like those on the Cruz thread.
Cruz actually was looking quite poor in the running months ago, and many thought he didn't have a chance.
That was the similarity I was speaking of.
I gave up helping other posters understanding that...it was too simple to see unless one wishes to deal in a straw man arguement.
The poster REALLY wanted to believe I was comparing Neumann with Cruz, so he did. Heh...
Thanks NoGray-Z, that clears a few things up.
The main problem was I missed gorush’s /sarc at the end of his post...
Work sucks, totally taking advantage of us. Taking the night off. Need to control my BP.
Amen to that. Fitz is the guy that helped him. He has earned his shot at the Senate, and unlike all the others, we know he will stand for conservative principles, because he did so last year.
I believe Hovde, based on my conversations with him, as well as the impressions of others, is a solidly conservative guy who would represent the Tea Party/Conservative perspective.
Neumann I have already discussed.
Tommy was critical of Walker during the battle over Act 10. After he left office, he supported the third party candidacy of his brother for the governorship over his own lieutenant governor Scott McCallum, which was responsible for siphoning off enough votes to give us 8 years of Jim Doyle. Thanks, Tommy.
So it comes down to Fitzgerald and Hovde as the acceptable candidates. I would support either of the others in the general election, but I would hold my nose when I did so.

Thompson goes after Hovde, Club for Growth knocks them both
Tommy Thompson has a new TV ad that goes after Eric Hovde, while the Club for Growth has a new spot out that knocks both of them.
The Thompson TV ad is similar to a radio spot he released last week that questions Hovde's conservative credentials because the hedge fund manager and community banker gave a donation to former Gov. Jim Doyle.
The 30-second TV ad notes that Hovde gave $500 to Doyle's campaign "against Scott Walker" in 2005.
It plays audio of Hovde saying he was probably "strong armed" by Doyle and that he "capitulated."
"Hovde admits he capitulated to liberal Jim Doyle to protect his real estate deals," a narrator says. "Tommy Thompson stood up to liberals like Jim Doyle his whole career. Hovde capitulated. That's a risk we can't afford."
The national Club for Growth spot asks, Who will bring real conservative change to Washington?
The spot features a cube with pictures on all sides that rotates as the narrator says Thompson did some good things ago. One side of the cube shows an old black-and-white picture of Thompson.
But he pushed for nine different tax hikes and said we cant repeal Obamacare, the narrator says.
The spot then turns to Hovde, who the narrator says supported a Wall Street bailout and Obamas high-speed rail stimulus spending.
That wont change Washington, the narrator says.
The spot concludes by praising Mark Neumann as Wisconsins most conservative congressman in decades. Neumanns the choice for conservative change.

Americans for Job Security goes after Hovde on TV
A new TV ad from Americans for Job Security attacks Hovde, alleging his actions in the private sector clash with his claim that he's a conservative.
The 30-second ad, entitled "Says and Does," begins with a chart and two pictures of Hovde. The two sides are labeled "Says" and "Does."
"He says he was against bank bailouts, but invested in banks that got billions," The narrator says. "Says he's fine paying higher taxes, but was sued for tax evasion. Says he's from the private sector, but his business was built on government-assisted transactions and took millions in stimulus cash."
The ad ends with the narrator saying "Eric Hovde: Sound like a conservative to you?"

They are all over the place with their endorsements, pushed a perennial candidate from outside the district in the NC-8 race, got him into the runoff where he predictably failed.
Hit, miss, hit, miss, miss, no rhyme or reason behind it.
Thanks for your input!
You make a compelling case against Neumann.
Fitzgerald has been a poor 4th in every poll since Hovde got in. So this looks like an either or question with Hovde and Thompson.
It’s a shame that establishment pick Hudson won that NC-8 runoff.
Predictable after the CFG pushed a fringy dentist from outside the district ahead of two good conservative candidates who lived in the district. No way Keadle breaks double digits without national level backers meddling in the race.
They were helping Walker out and waiting for him to win his contest so he could start his campaign.
He's far and away the best candidate to beat Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin, who will probably be the left's pick.

Gee, what an act of courage for Mark Neumann to support Walker in the Spring 2012 gubernatorial recall election.[/sarc]
If I'm not mistaken, I think that's the same Mark Neumann who was earnestly and repeatedly recruited by the state GOP to carry the party's banner (unopposed) and run for Senate in 2000, 2004, 2006 & 2010, but repeatedly said "No, I don't want to go to Washington DC."
I also seem to remember a Mark Neumann that took stimulus money for green energy projects. Maybe I'm confusing that guy with the Mark Neumann who was engaged in bogus "Green Construction" homebuilding (y'know, the type of construction where hypocritical guilty liberals buy jumbo-sized homes with expensive energy-conservation facets that will eventually recoup their costs after 20 years of projected conservation).
If my memory serves, I really think that Nark Neumann is the same guy who was begged to NOT run for Governor by the GOP leadership and nearly every conservative group in the state. Gosh, I seem to remember local conservative talk radio hosts begging Neumann to drop his quixotic gubernatorial effort and switch to run a 2010 Senate campaign.
If I'm not mistaken, I think that's the same Mark Neumann who chose to ignore the January 2010 secured Walker endorsements by 98% of all Wisconsin state representatives and senators and engaged in a dishonorable smear tactic-filled GOP gubernatorial primary against Walker in 2010.
If it's the same guy, I can't seem to forget the Mark Neumann who - despite trailing 3-1 in polls and with the Wisconsin GOP readying itself to make an unprecedented convention endorsement (in a contested state race) for Walker - staged a phony skirmish at the convention and initially claimed that he had been roughed up and kicked out of the state party convention.
But I will NEVER forget that Mark Neumann publicly threatened to quit his 2010 gubernatorial primary race (Wisconsin law prohibits primary losers from running as an independent candidate in the general election) to run an independent centrist campaign to the LEFT of Scott Walker.
Now, I'm glad that Ron Johnson jumped up to fill the GOP slot in the 2010 US Senate race that Neumann rejected. And I'm glad that the Mark Neumann I know eventually backed down from his initial wild convention claims and independent centrist 3rd party threat. And while I'm disappointed that the Mark Neumann that I know stayed in the gubernatorial primary until the bitter end, I was relieved that he eventually (albeit somewhat reluctantly) endorsed Scott Walker in the 2010 general election.
Was that the Mark Neumann - living embodiment of conservatisim [/sarc] - you met earlier this year?
“Mark Neumann is no Ted Cruz, but he is closer to the unelectable Sharron Angle, a poorly-chosen Tea Partier with a record of red flags.”
Very well-stated. Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell almost single-handedly cost us control of the Senate last time and I think that the TEA Party has become more savvy since then.
As for this race, I agree that Jeff Fitzgerald would be the best Senator, but he’s not really a viable candidate. I’m for Tommy Thompson due to electability alone, given he couldn’t possibly lose to the likes of Tammy Baldwin. Of course, I also said the same thing about Al Franken, and we all know how that turned out.
