Tea Party Express Endorses Mark Neumann for U.S. Senate

Milwaukee, WI – Fresh off a historic upset victory in Texas, Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest tea party political action committee, proudly announced their endorsement of Mark Neumann (for Senate) today in Milwaukee, WI. Tea Party Express also announced a 3-day bus tour for Neumann next week.

Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said, “We are excited to be here in Wisconsin today to announce our endorsement of Mark Neumann for the U.S. Senate. Mark earned the support of the Tea Party Express, and tea party members from every corner of Wisconsin, because he is the only one with a plan that cuts spending, balances the budget, and repeals ObamaCare. He understands that we must get back to Constitutional principles in Washington. And, he is the one with the proven record of doing all this before.

“Neumann understands the free market, job creation, and fiscal responsibility. We cannot continue down the path we are currently on; Neumann’s experience and committed pro-growth solutions that enhance individual liberty and responsibility are exactly what we need in the next U.S. Senator from Wisconsin.

“Wisconsin’s yearlong recall battle, which ultimately ended in a massive tea party victory galvanized the movement and created a powerful network that will be decisive in November. Neumann understands the grassroots and is ready to mobilize the vast network that is in place to insure a commanding November victory. We are going to do everything we can to help him secure the nomination and go on to win in November,” Kremer concluded.

The organization is attending a series of events throughout the day and the schedule is as follows:

9:30 AM – Milwaukee War Memorial
750 N Lincoln Memorial
Milwaukee, WI 53202

12:15 PM Leicht Memorial Park
128 Dousman St.
Green Bay, WI 54303

3:15 PM Wisconsin State Capitol
2 East Main Street
Madison, WI 53703

Wait and see - Scott Walker will endorse Jeff Fitzgerald this week, and he will surge from the back of the pack to win this thing.

I wouldn’t say that CT has been conceded to Obama. The Democrat pollster PPP recently released a poll showing Obama leading Romney by only 51-43: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2011/PPP_Release_CT_080112.pdfAnd Obama has been running TV ads in central CT, which he wouldn’t do if the state was a lock for him.

Neumann Never! The local T Party folks are not happy about this. Most of them are supporting Hovde.

Can you post some info from the local Tea Party people showing that? Thanks.

Do you think Walker is mad at Neumann for his run against him for Gov?

I don't know. Walker doesn't seem the type to let a political grudge get in the way of doing what's right. But Fitzgerald was a very important instrument in getting the Walker agenda through the Assembly. I think Walker considers Fitzgerald a true right-hand man. And Fitzgerald has very little money - a Walker endorsement would be HUGE.

Thanks

It will be interesting to see who he endorses.

I do know that Neumann did support Walker after he lost to him earlier.

If that counts for anything, I don’t know.

Those outside of Wisconsin don’t know him like we know him. A lot of us who supported Governor Walker in 2010 - after he left the race in 2006 “for the good of the party” did not appreciate Neumann’s backstabbing campaign against Scott, in particular some of the shenanigans he pulled at state convention. Neumann has not run this campaign any differently - he paid for people to attend state convention, including buses and hotel rooms, in exchange for their endorsement at convention - no candidate got enough votes, so there ended up being no endorsement.

Neumann, by the way, could have waltzed into the senate in 2010, as all of us who were critical of him running against Scott Walker for governor were begging him to run. Thankfully, Ron Johnson stepped up when Neumann was busy taking potshots at Walker.

There are three solidly conservative candidates running: Hovde, Fitzgerald, and yes even Neumann. Any one would be a no brainer choice for senate over Tammy Baldwin, and I believe any of them can win. Of the three, Fitzgerald has proven himself by supporting Walker in the assembly. I have talked pretty extensively with Hovde and believe he could well be the next Ron Johnson. I would vote for Neumann if I had to, but I wouldn’t be particularly excite about it, after seeing his true character over the last couple of years.

I have talked to a lot of LOCAL Tea Party activists on the ground here in Wisconsin, who are pretty ticked off at national “Tea Party” groups purporting to speak for us - and making an endorsement that is absolutely contrary to the wishes of most Wisconsin Tea Party activists.

Several times I have seen statements about local tea party people or groups.

I haven’t gotten any answers when I ask for some links to show who they are, and how dedicated they are to their choices.

You got anything like that?

The names of local tea party groups, etc and their published positions?

No. I can just repeat what my friends are saying. The T Party branch that came out for Neumann is the T Party Express, a national group, that has no real ties to the local groups. Our local group is supporting Hovde.

Amen, Lou. The saddest thing about this whole exercise is Fitzgerald. I hope he runs against Tom Petri next cycle.

You made the comparison to Cruz. I stated Neumann (not Newmann) is a lousy candidate and explained why. You haven’t attempted to refute that. Remember, sometimes it’s the messenger that is flawed, not the message. He’s a bad messenger and subpar candidate, the sole reason why I’d put him behind Thompson in preference (and I don’t want Thompson). This “Tea Party Express” hasn’t shown much sense in their endorsement (same goes for the bad choices in NV and CO last go-around) of this frequent office-seeker (his 6th run).

As many of you know, I was an early backer of Tommy Thompson's bid for the 2008 presidential nomination and think his record as Governor of Wisconsin was outstanding.

That being said,I have to agree with Fieldmarshaldj as far as considering Jeff Fitzgerald the strongest choice we could run, and Newmann the weakest. I don't think Newmann would be as disastrous as Katherine Harris's bid in FL or Angle in NV, but there's no doubt his track record in political campaigns is poor and he would be in an uphill battle against Baldwin in November if he were the GOP nominee.

We keep snatching defeat from victories in these Senate races because some in the "Tea party" insist the weakest candidate in the primary is the only "true conservative". I'm not buying it, they're all reliably conservative and we need to run a strong candidate.

I really haven't looked into Eric Hovde as he's the unknown in this primary. I'm hesitant to believe he's the second coming of Ron Johnson aside from the superficial similarity of them both being successful businessmen before throwing their hat into a Senate race.

In this were the late 90s or early 2000s, TT would win the Senate primary in a walk and go on to crush any Democrat. Alas, this is 2012 and it's been 12 years since he held elective office, so he's no longer the powerhouse he used to be. I thought a presidential bid was doable but unfortunately it went nowhere, and now it's 5 years since the Iowa caucuses and he's very old to be starting a freshman career in the U.S. Senate, especially with the 6 year terms they have. His name is probably still held in high esteem by those who remember his tenure as Governor, and I think he'd make a good Senator, but his best years are behind him.

I see a lot of potential in Jeff Fitzgerald, he's been in politics for 12 years and is a solid success story, as well as a solid part of the Walker revolution that has transformed the state. At 45, he's also young enough to be a rising star in national politics. Curiously, his website mentions some conservative favorites like staunch pro-2nd amendment views, but is silent on social issues. I'm pretty sure he's socially conservative so I wonder why the omission.

>> But prefering Thompson over Newmann? No to status quo. <<

How is Thompson the "status quo" but Newmann isn't, Syncro? Mark Neumann is a former U.S. Congressman with lots of national connections, who has been running for federal office in Wisconsin for the last 20 years. You must be one of those freepers who was convinced that Newt Gingrich and Rick Perrry were "Anti-establishment". lol. Being in politics for decades doesn't make someone an "outsider", sorry. (even if they're part of a political fringe like Ron Paul, they still have plenty of clout in government) And when it comes to their respective records in office, I'll take Thompson over Newmann any day.

No I DIDN' T make a comparison to Cruz.

Go back and see what you responded to so you can stop making that false statement.

If you miss the boat on that, who knows what else you post is made up?

LOL, I love thypos.

I corrected my Newmann ones several times, but I'm glad I missed one so you could mention it!

Maybe I wouldn't vote for him as he misspells his own name. Newman, he should change it.

A u and two nn's, reason enough to not vote for him.
