Reporters accompanying presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney yelled questions at Romney about his so-called mistakes and gaffes on his foreign trip as the candidate left the Polish Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw today.
The barrage prompted one of Romney's press aides, Rick Gorka, to lose his cool at reporters. Of course, those reporters are making the aide's profanity the story and not their own incredible rudeness.
A transcript of the incident via CNN's Jim Acosta in Warsaw:
CNN: "Governor Romney are you concerned about some of the mishaps of your trip?
NYT: "Governor Romney do you have a statement for the Palestinians?
Washington Post: "What about your gaffes?
NYT: "Governor Romney do you feel that your gaffes have overshadowed your foreign trip?"
CNN: "Governor Romney just a few questions sir, you haven't taken but three questions on this trip from the press!
Gorka: "Show some respect"
NYT: "We haven't had another chance to ask a question..."
Gorka: "Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect."
Acosta added: Moments later, Gorka told Jonathan Martin, a reporter for Politico, to "shove it." About a half-hour later, the aide called reporters to apologize.
The news media would be crucified if they treated Barack Obama this way (they never would, of course.) They should be crucified for their infantile, insulting behavior.

The campaign needs to ignore the press. The press is the enemy of this country. Ignore them, tell them nothing, and give them no advance notice of campaign activities.
Pull a “Palin” on the press like she did on her tour last year.

McCain was their darling, and they attacked him too.
What we need is a formal alternate press corp. We need newspapers, television, and radio.
As for the Newspaper part, it could be a small underground paper that could build street cred.
I realize we have forums like this, and I think they are vital, but we need something to supply people who want the straight truth in a simple format.
Talk radio is good too. It still isn’t a formal news delivery system.

I think I am pretty good on political biographies, but yours is very detailed and worth noting.
I learned a lot...didn’t know he gave away his inheritance to charity and took no salary as governor. Pretty incredible and pretty damn impressive.

Hmmm. Romney goes to England and tells the truth about security and general preparedness at the Olympics, and the Brits get all upset. If you think they are so prepared, explain all the empty seats at medal events while people are queueing interminably trying to get in.
Next, Romney goes to Israel and tells the truth (actually, he understated it) about the Palestinians and they get their head scarves all in a twist.
Finally, he goes to Poland and tells the truth THERE, gets applauded by the locals, and the American Press gets all bitchy?
As Jack Nicholson once said: “You want the truth? You can’t HANDLE the truth!!!”
