Chick-Fil-A Brand Approval Rating Plummets
Towelroad ^ | July 28 2012 | A. Towleroad

The controversy caused by Chick-fil-A COO Dan Cathy's interview, in which he said the company was "guilty as charged" for making large donations to anti-gay causes, has not been good for the restaurant's brand, GLAAD reports:

Chick-Fil-A and the Top National QSR Sector were measured with YouGov BrandIndex's Index score, the company's flagship brand health measurement.

The Index score is an average of key scores measuring quality, impression, value, reputation, satisfaction and willingness to recommend. All measurements were filtered for adults 18+ who have eaten fast food in the past month. The Top National QSR sector average includes such brands as Pizza Hut, Arby's, Papa John's, Domino's, Taco Bell, KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, and Long John Silver's.

Chick-fil-A's index score has dropped 26 points since Dan Cathy's interview:

YouGov BrandIndex measurement scores range from 100 to -100 and are compiled by subtracting negative feedback from positive. A zero score means equal positive and negative feedback.

On July 16th, the day the Baptist Press published its Dan Cathy interview, Chick-Fil-A's Index score was 65, a very substantial 19 points above the Top National QSR Sector average score that day of 46.

Four days later, Chick-Fil-A had fallen to 47 score, three points below the Top National QSR Sector average score of 50. This past Wednesday, Chick-Fil-A had a 39 score compared to the Top National QSR Sector average score of 43.

For fairness purposes, this poll was taken across a country-wide spread in San Francisco, Chicago and Boston.

You left out Key West and Fire Island.

Take a look at the website of YouGov Brand Index. It's a British company doing surveys and so forth... mostly online. What is missing from their glowing reports is any indication of how the surveys are conducted, the kinds of questions asked, and so forth. In fact, it looks as if anyone - like you and I - can sign up for the service and conduct our own surveys. Nowhere on the website did I see a disclaimer about the reliability of the surveys themselves.

My gut feeling is that this is a merely a leftist website designed to manipulate public opinion.

In fact, everyone I have met and talked with about the Chick-Fil-A issue has come down on the side of the restaurant. As a teacher, I have a direct line to liberal, leftist, young, and sometimes clueless opinion, and the responses I'm hearing are all on the side of the restaurant, ranging from ho-hum who cares to folks actively seeking a Chick-Fil-A to eat there. No one suggests activism, protests, things like that.

Here's a photo from a former student posted on Facebook - a blue-blood liberal most of the time - showing what seems to be the real opinion of most people. I agree that the poster misrepresents the Chick-Fil-A position, too - but it also represents an overall disgust of the leftist position. (Hope the link works!)

Who runs this poll, the homosexual lobby?

The nearest one to us is a bit over 50 miles away. We are making a special trip there on Aug.1. Hey - it’s a nice excuse for a mid-week “Sunday drive” with my Husband, and there will be lovely chicken, milkshakes, coleslaw, and waffle fries waiting for us at the end of the trip.

Very much looking forward to the day.

Of course it colors what they say. I don’t agree with their perspective, but its interesting to get conservative reactions, which are always shrewd and intelligent.

This is all smoke and mirrors by the gay lobbiests. Tie them to Sandusky-like and NAMBLA behavior and watch them back off.

Overall brand approval is not that important for companies as it is for politicians running for office. The important thing is brand recognition; as long as there is no implication that the product is defective, this is still great publicity.

I’m going to stick my neck out, and call BS on this one as Chick-Fil-A’s locally are crammed with customers.....

Drove by the Chick-Fil-A in my area and the parking lot was packed at 1:30 in the afternoon.

I understand your point, but this should be dismissed out of hand. I know that we will, but everyone should.

Unfortunately some will buy into this.

I wouldn’t be surprise if Chick-Fil-A’s sales have gone up considerably.

If I were anywhere near one, I’d be frequenting their business.

The people at DU aren’t trying to get elected.

Most leftists, even DUmpsters, understand that

a leftist exposed is a leftist defeated.

The homosexuals are going to protest the Chick-fil-A’s on August 3rd. They plan to take up the seating areas and do some kissing. Try to get there on the 3rd and bring your barf bag.

If these homosexuals aren’t careful they’ll find themselves back in the closet.

The nearest one is 40 miles away

An acquaintance of mine, who is 85, and his 82 year old ladyfriend, traveled 40 miles Sunday evening to patronize the nearest Chick-Fil-A.

YouGov.com is not exactly what anyone might consider unbiased, nor could anyone indicate that their published polling results are not predetermined.

As to the site source for this article, I must borrow from the Obama campaign, “bend over we aren’t finished yet.”
