White House admits it did return Winston Churchill bust to Britain
Barack Obama's White House has been forced to admit that it did return a bust of Sir Winston Churchill to British diplomats, after describing such claims as "100 per cent false".

Aides to Mr Obama were furious after The Daily Telegraph disclosed last week that Mitt Romney planned to restore the Jacob Epstein sculpture to its home under George W Bush from 2001 to 2009.
"I'm looking forward to the bust of Winston Churchill being in the Oval Office again," the Republican challenger confirmed at a fund-raiser at London's Mandarin Oriental hotel.
Dan Pfeiffer, the President's communications director, said in a statement that widespread reports of the bust being returned to Britain's embassy in Washington as Mr Obama took office were untrue.
"This is 100 per cent false," Mr Pfeiffer said. "The bust is still in the White House. In the Residence. Outside the Treaty Room". Illustrating his statement with a photograph of Mr Obama inspecting it with David Cameron in 2010, he added: "Hopefully this clears things up a bit and prevents folks from making this ridiculous claim again".
British officials were surprised by Mr Pfeiffer's statement and photograph, however, because the bust now resides in the residence of Sir Peter Westmacott, Britain's ambassador to the US. Further inquiries led to the discovery that there are, in fact, two matching Churchill busts by Epstein.

The one displayed by Mr Bush was indeed returned, along with all other art lent to him, as his presidency came to an end. The other, which remains in the White House residence, was given as a gift to President Lyndon B Johnson in 1965 by a group of Atlanticist diplomats and military officers.
This to me reads that Bush returned it, and Obama kept one and at least displayed it in 2010???

I thought taking foreign money was a taboo? I know we carped about Obama doing that...
None of what you write here addresses the contradictions floating around in the stories.
I'm confused. Which bust did the current administration supposedly return?
You have to ask yourself... why would they go out of their way to lie about something as minor as this?
Imagine what they really hope you won’t find out.
Was anyone really expecting the traitor or his traitorous WH gang of thugs to tell the truth?!?
It’s legitimate to raise money from American expatriates on foreign soil. George Clooney is doing it for Obama.
What Obama did, which angered us, was to accept donations that we suspect came from abroad, under patently fictious names, doing so by disabling the gatekeeping mechanisms in the online donation system etc. In other words, in 2008 he got a lot of money from real foreigners but laundered through a layer or two. Whether he’s still doing that now, I don’t know. But raising money among expats is not wrong.
LOL, good one.
It seems we’re on the same page - though I think you’re a paragraph ahead of me.
8^)
You are correct, too much of the public doesn’t pay attention, and too many of the ones who do, don’t care as long as they get their “gibmees”. There’s the group who don’t pay attention to the details of policy as long as TheWon sounds “inspirational”. They want to believe in the left’s “feel-good” policies so they can preen their cheap and shallow “moral superiority”.
Of course, thanks for the clarification.
Also, congrats on being the first on this thread to have actually read the article. I share your questioning of what exactly happened.
Outside the treaty room?
Obama has a treaty room? With an imaginary bust outside? Figures.
Obama works really hard at creating an image of himself as a mainstream American who happens to be black. He publicly declares Israel to be our bestest buddies while Hillary is handing out Massad intel to nuclear jihadists. This administration works very hard at hiding who they are, and the press goes along.
Sending a Churchill bust back to the Brits as an obvious insult is not a PR mistake I would expect from them. Obama has anti-colonialist blood (assuming certain parentage), and may well hate Churchill...I just think he would hide it the same way he tries to hide his disdain for Israel.
Ever since Politico came on the scene I have always said that anything by that rag should be taken with a grain of salt
That’s a real insult to return a gift from another country. They could have put it in the State Department or the Pentagon.
Thanks for the ping.
Strange how the American press missed this story... Almost like they were trying to miss it... is that possible?
Maybe the Washington Post is suited up and ready to run with it?
“We are information sponges, I would bet that 90% of us remember when this happened originally.”

Absolutely, this incident and so many more, as chronicled in an article in Human Events from July of 2011.

True dat...
.....and longer memories go back to Sir Winston Churchill's directives to his WWII war cabinet....
1. Destroy the means of production and distribution of petroleum products.
2. Destroy the means of production and distribution of electricity...starting with coal mining.
3.Destroy manufacturing capacity starting with ball bearing factories.
4. Terrorize the civilian population.
Seems to me Obambi has well in place items 1, 2 and 3 and is starting to work on item 4.
And that link contradicts what we’re being told EVEN NOW. It says that the Brits offered to let Obama keep the bust for another 4 years - not that it had been given as a loaner and was no longer needed because the original was fixed.
So what’s the truth? How do we even know, when there is so much disinformation and so many lies?
You must be a “glass half full” kind of guy!
