Three masked men allegedly broke into a 33-year-old lesbian womans home, bound her arms and carved anti-gay slurs into her arms and abdomen.
A vigil was held in support of the woman who was allegedly attacked for her sexual orientation.
A 33-year-old Nebraska woman said three masked intruders tied her up, carved homophobic slurs into her skin and then set her house on fire in a shocking case that police are reportedly classifying as a hate crime.
A spokeswoman for the Lincoln Police Department told CNN on Monday investigators found a derogatory slur used against lesbians spray painted inside her home following the attack early Sunday morning.
The woman, an open homosexual who was not identified in local reports, made her way to a neighbors home after her assailants left. She called police around 4 a.m. I was in shock, neighbor Linda Rappl told CNN. She was naked, her hands were tied with zip ties. All I could see was a cut across her forehead and blood running down.
The woman told police three men wearing ski masks broke into her home and bound her hands, the Omaha World-Herald reported. The men also reportedly used a knife to cut the gay slurs into her skin and then doused her home with gasoline to start the blaze.

Probably her daughter.
Smells fishy?
“While reading the article, I was looking to see if the police found her all tied up but, no, she was freed and turned up at a neighbor’s house.
There is only her word that this happened to her by outside attackers. That’s why this smells fishy to me.”
Right, that’s a huge red flag, and I’ll bet the cops already have noted that, just not saying anything until they can be sure. If this does turn out to be a hoax (I’d say there is a 90% chance it is) I hope and pray the outrage will be enormous.
Sounds like a hoax to me. The police probably see the same, but will play along for now. They will want the hoaxer to believe she is home free, she will be more likely to slip up in the cover up.
My thoughts exactly. Give it a week and the truth of this fraud will be out.
It sounds fake because, how do you find three people stupid enough to feel SO threatened by a woman’s homosexuality that they get together to commit felonies upon her and for what end result?
I suppose it could happen and it may be that it did. I’m just explaining why it doesn’t pass the smell test.
I hope this is a hoax. I’d hate to think people would actually do this.
You could be right. In any case, I trust cops will do their work and get to the bottom of it. I cannot believe the media is jumping all over something that reeks of self-inflicted prank as though it is believable in any way, shape, or form. And a vigil already? They should’ve sat on it until it was confirmed. Somehow, do not think it will be.
You nailed it: It doesn’t pass the smell test. The cops must be on to it , as all say, just biding their time until she “cracks”. If this is true, I’ll be shocked.
“lesbian attack” - I’ve heard that police reports of domestic homicides in lesbian households are often brutal to the point of unreality.
Usually involves a knife, and the killer only stops stabbing when she’s exhausted to the point that she can’t raise her arm for another strike.
Dollars to doughnut holes she is trying to get the attention of her ex-lover.
Too many of these things turn out to be staged. Sounds like she may have gotten smart and used an accomplice.
I was thinking of accomplices too, some gay guys perhaps, posing as the masked men and helping with the staging. It is a felony to stage a crime scene in any case.
The only circumstance where I could see three straights beating up a gay, would be if the gay person had molested one of their kids. They wouldn't carve anything on her, though -- that particular act sounds like something a woman would do to another woman.
I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt... FOR NOW, as sometimes, just sometimes, bad and bizarre things do indeed happen to people. I am mindful of the fact that the Brandon Teena/Teena Brandon case (basis for the movie “Boys Don’t Cry” also occurred in Nebraska.
I know a lot of folks on here won’t find such an opinion all that popular, but I do try and look at folks as human beings first and foremost, unless the prove unworthy of such consideration.
With all that said, if this is indeed a hoax, my “sympathy meter” for this person will immediately fall below zero.
Check the end of the zip ties for saliva and teeth marks.
I am calling BS on the whole story.
I see what you did there.... LOL!
