ROMNEY NARROWS VP CHOICES; SURPRISE NAME EMERGES AS FRONTRUNNER
Or Gomer Huckabee
My favorite is still Clayton Bigsby.
This is the first happy political moment I can recall in about a year.-—————
So you find joy in having a pro-abortion Obama voter being floated as the Republican vice-presidential nominee.

One would think that someone with a “Scott Walker is my President” tagline would have had a “happy political moment” just last month. Unless you are a troll.
I’ll tell you what.
If Robamney picks Rice, I’m definitely voting third party.
I am sick of these liberals pandering to minorities (liberal minorities) for votes so that they can get elected and enact liberal policies.
I am not Faucetman and I agree with you.
YOU LIE.
She has NEVER claimed to vote for Obama in 2008.
Never, not even when pressed on The View earlier this year.
She has always maintained she is a Republican and she supports the Republican nominee.
The spread of this fatuous BULL has been all TOO common on FR.
It's long past time for it to STOP.
Your own seeding of this damnable lie and using "broad" to describe Dr. Rice tells us more about your own bigotry and biases than it does about her suitability for the vice presidency.
When asked after the election, how dare she respond factually on the historical context of Obama's win. Of course the bigots say, "Traitor! She voted for him! Blacks are all alike!"
I am FED UP with the baseless claim about Rice's 2008 vote, the frequently unchallenged misogyny and racist rhetoric hurled about on threads where this well-qualified individual is mentioned. And, I note, it's only been a problem since Obama.
There was a time on FR when she was rightly admired for her individualism, accomplishments and great effort on behalf of the American people as part of W's administration.
Do I expect her to be the VP choice? NO.
She'd make mincemeat out of Biden but, on abortion she is more libertarian than I'd prefer. She opposes federal funding, she supports the ban on late term abortions, she supports parental notification laws, she supports a cultural change that looks down on abortion and does all it can to minimize but she'd prefer a reduced federal role and maintaining basic legality.
He says its Condoleeza Rice! GOD I HATE THE STINKING REPUBLICRAT PARTY!
This afternoon I actually got enthused thinking about Allen West on the VP spot and how I could really get behind that ticket.
I just checked Drudge and supposedly Condi Rice is the top possibility.
If he picks Rice, I give up completely on the GOP and go third party.
I’ll vote for the most conservative for every other office and hope that we can block the liberal hell that Robamney/Rice would continue to dig us to.
She’s cute but Phoebe C. wins my eyes.
Mittens can go get bent!
Nothing like demoralizing the whole conservative segment that you need to win. Condi is a great gal, NOT for VP. Not ever. No way.
For a Protestant president? Not a thing—it would actually be preferable, particularly given the strong Catholic bench the GOP has all of a sudden (Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Susana Martinez, Bob McDonnell, Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, Rick Santorum, Kelly Ayotte, Steve King, Newt Gingrich, Jeb Bush, and probably a few more that I can’t think of right now).
Romney is a Mormon, though, and will have a hard time getting a high turnout among Evangelical Protestants. He needs a Protestant VP, preferably one with which Evangelical voters will feel comfortable. Rob Portman, a Methodist, fits the bill. Plus, he’s a smart, experienced social and economic conservative from the vital state of Ohio, appeals to blue-collar voters, and is fluent in Spanish. Ever since Portman endorsed Romney, I thought that he’d be the perfect runningmate for Romney if (God forbid) he won the nomination; after Portman almost singlehandedly put Romney across the finish line against Santorum in OH (much to my chagrin), I thought that Romney would pick him.
I believe Gov. Martinez is too smart to follow Sarah Palin down the meat-grinding gauntlet as a first term female governor turned running mate.
This is who Romney is going to pick.
Nikki Haley.
Endorsed by Palin.
Right to Work state that just beat the government in the Boeing debacle.
An advocate for fiscal responsibility
Believes in transparency in government
And has conservative values.
Unfortunately, I think the fact that Sarah endorsed Nikki Haley makes her instantly radioactive among Romney’s inner core of advisors.
Romney can’t afford to pick a runningmate who isn’t unequivocally pro-life. I don’t think you have to worry about Romney taking your governor away from you.
Rubio is a first term Senator.
Martinez is a first term governor.
Do you see the trend among some of the 'favorites' people put forward? FIRST TERM.
The problem is that the press will now bring up her role in the leadup to the Iraq war.
