An online magazine has offered translations to Arabic news sources that purportedly indicate that Egypt's Salafi party has come forth with plans to demolish Egypt's Great Pyramids in an effort to bring down what it calls "symbols of paganism."
Bahrain's "Sheikh of Sunni Sheikhs" and President of National Unity, Abd al-Latif al-Mahmoud, has reportedly urged Egypt's new president, Muhammad Morsi, to "destroy the Pyramids and accomplish what Amr bin al-As could not," according to conservative political publication FrontPage Magazine.
Al-Mahmoud's comments relate to Amr bin al-As, a companion of the Islam's founder Muhammad, who invaded Egypt in 641 and began destroying Egyptian artifacts. Some early Muslim writers have noted that Amr bin al-As even destroyed the great Library of Alexandria, which was a hub of knowledge for the ancient world.
Amr bin al-As, however, did not have the means to destroy the massive pyramid structures back then, but the Salafi party now has the technology available to do just that.

Of course I would hate to see them destroyed but it would be interesting to see what secrets they still hold.
They wouldn’t take them apart stone by stone; they would BLOW THEM UP.
Maybe the muzzie brothers will let Bill Clinton’s wife detonate the first batch of explosives since she helped bring muzzie style “democracy” to Egypt.
I am actually pretty surprised they lasted this long without some piece of crap muslim destroying them.
I crossed it off my list for 50 years when Egyptians cheered after the 9-11 attacks.
This goes with the fundamentalists in Mali who have, ironically enough, destroyed Sufi monuments. Of course, they will kill Sufi of either Sunni or Shia persuasions. They are the moderate Muslims everyone pins their hopes on. Lots of luck.
Great sarcasm.
Islam could only deface them a long time ago now they go against the Qur'an and use western technology to blow them up.
They really are ignorant people.
Some people won’t be happy until Egypt is nothing but a gigantic trapezoid of sand, populated solely by the certifiably insane.
Seems like it is getting harder and harder to find those moderate muslims that we keep hearing about.
This is so wrong. I’m sure the Pyramids hold some secrets and if they blow them up, we will lose those secrets as well. I’m convinced that with the exceptions of the Sufis and the Druze, Islam is basically a doomsday machine.
Two chances of that....Slim and None - and Slim has just been diagnosed as being HIV Positive...
Hey jackass, still “inspired”?
I guess they could try to blow them up, but I’d speculate those babies could take a direct hit from a nuke and still be standing.
What a bunch of laughable clowns.
After the Luxor massacre, Egypt should be off anyone’s “want to visit” list. But to the topic, the Egyptian military is not going to allow any Egyptian civilians to screw with its biggest cash cow.
Im convinced that with the exceptions of the Sufis and the Druze, Islam is basically a doomsday machine.

I’d throw the Ahmadiyya movement in with the Sufis and the Druze.
I’d really like to ask someone in the State Department why we’re not doing something to promote Sufism, the Druze, Ahmadiyya? They’re actually quite tolerable.
I had a Pakistani friend (Ahmadiyya), and he told me horror stories of these maniacs in Pakistan running around blowing up the tombs of Sufi saints, killing Ahmadiyya, and other assorted nonsense. Which is why he left Pakistan.

Thanks dewawi.Al-Mahmoud's comments relate to Amr bin al-As, a companion of the Islam's founder Muhammad, who invaded Egypt in 641 and began destroying Egyptian artifacts.
