Roberts Should Be Impeached and Removed From the Court (Vanity)
vanity | 6/29/2012 | R. Page

First, an apology for the millionth vanity here...

It has become clear to me that what Justice Roberts has done is so shameful and such an outright trampling on our constitution and theft of our liberty that he should be impeached and be removed from office. In an otherwise sane world where this document still meant something, he would be impeached and if the Republicans have any spine they'd do it. This, "cut off your nose to spite your face" wizardy (that is, trample the constitution in order to save the reputation of the court) is the last straw in what has been an enduring attack on our freedom. Enough; draw the damn line here and now.

If the opinions of Justices Scalia, Thomas, Alito and even Kennedy could not sway Justice Roberts in a case which has such tremendous implications for our country; then, there is clearly no hope for the man; he cannot be reformed and he must go.

Look, I know folks are going to show up here and say, we can't get rid of justices when we don't like their opinions. To this, I say, BS...what he has done here is nothing but judicial activism on steroids and if we cannot remove these guys for such a blatant abuse of their position; then they are truly there for life...

Thanks.

The ruling must be overturned.

I honestly think he was either bribed or blackmailed.

Either is grounds enough to remove him.

You’re correct, we cannot really impeach the guy. All I want is the chance to grab him by his super-duper black robe, look him square in the eyes, and ask him,”What the H3LL were you thinking?! You just DESTROYED my country and what it stood for!”

Some would say he handed the Republicans control of the House, the Senate, and the Presidency for a generation.

He limited the commerce clause, he labeled obamacare for what it really is: obamatax, and he has given Conservatives a real opportunity to use reconciliation to reverse it since it was reconciliation that gave birth to this monster act. The more I read the SCHMART PEOPLE studies, the more I am starting to realize 1) Roberts is a genius and 2) he works in a process of decades as opposed to what you want: instant gratification.

Just out of curiosity, what impeachable rule or law would he be libel under? Not agreeing or disagreeing, just an inquiring mind that wants to know. ;-)

He simply gave the Democrats and Obama a way to tax their way out of the mess they created.

i suppose it helps to vent your spleen but if judicial activism were an impeachable offense, there would be a whole lot more idiots kicked out of SCOTUS.

Did you see the posts from earlier today, where Roberts was joking about hiding out in a secure place? That doesn’t sound like a man under duress to me. He simply became and activist judge and betrayed his oath all on his own.

Impeach him for what? Expressing his opinion? Following his job description and writing a judicial opinion you disagree with? Impeach him on what basis? Your proposal is so much cow manure. I despise the man’s judicial opinion as much as anyone else, but I refuse to give up my brain to hysteria. Your proposal makes as much sense to me as the teenage girls who get on buses and subways and decide to cut someone up. It makes as much sense as an honor killing. Grow up. Quit throwing tantrums.

Maybe not...this is now a budgetary law, and it concerns budgetary matters, including taxes (like the Bush tax cuts), 51 votes are sufficient to put the law on hold for 10 years.

We can make this happen, can’t we

Good luck with that. You little people in flyover country haven't noticed, but Roberts is the toast of official Washington this weekend. The Compost could barely contain itself today, slobbering on and on about Roberts’ “statesmanship” and how he brought “legitimacy” to the court. The institutions of our undoing in Washington know when they have a new champion on their side, and they mean to keep him. By whatever means necessary.

Just out of curiosity, what impeachable rule or law would he be libel under? Not agreeing or disagreeing, just an inquiring mind that wants to know. ;-)

From a Constitutional perspective, anything the House wants and two thirds of the Senate will go along with.

In keeping with the spirit of the Constitution, judges must be allowed to keep their positions as long as they exercise "good behavior". It would not be unreasonable under the spirit of the Constitution to regard a violation of one's oath of office as "bad behavior".

To be sure, reckless impeachment of judges would make the SCOTUS even more overtly political than it already is, but it might also help wake up the public to something very important: the fact that what the Constitution means, and what a well-behaved court says it means, will be one and the same, does not imply that the Constitution always means what the court says it means. The Court has no actual authority over anyone other than the actual parties to the cases brought before it. If the Court overturns a ruling by a lower court that says a statute in unconstitutional, that doesn't mean the statute is constitutional. Rather, it conveys a message that any future lower court rulings which say the statute is unconstitutional are likely to be overturned, and that judges who don't want their rulings overturned should avoid issuing rulings that will be. That's it.

If five judges say one thing and four say another, the ruling by the five judges will be binding upon the actual parties to the case. On the other hand, if the ruling by the four judges cites reasonable constitutional justification and the ruling by the five judges does not, those who are sworn to uphold the Constitution should recognize that Supreme Court edicts are not superior to the Supreme Law of the Land.

Salve

Battle is tedious, some are lost, but nothing is lost - there are still things that can be change. War is still on, I have written many times, make sure you have true conservatives in two Chambers of your Government, and clean the house your style.

Let logic prevail, not emotions, none of this you are doomed, yes its painful to watch, but by watching and crying, nothing will be done.

Only you together as people of Constitution Republic can do this, yes there is this Electoral Votes, so ....who represents you to make a difference...You will get those if you put your heads together friends.

Last laughter belongs to you if you put yourselves together and go on attack, now that is official and I new it is a tax gives you plenty of ammunition, just calculate probability and go with Sun Tzu style - knock them out in their own turf...Enemy made fatal mistake use it for your advantage with logic, and no pity.

Merci.
