MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- A man was charged Friday with assaulting a 4-year-old boy weeks earlier, a day after the missing child's body was found under the porch at the youngster's home on a mid-Michigan Indian reservation.
Anthony Bennett, 20, was charged in a federal criminal complaint in Bay City, where he was expected to appear in court. He is not charged in the death of Carnel Chamberlain, but the complaint details the reported physical abuse of the child.

Let’s hope he died of something particularly painful. Oh, and the mother should suffer the same fate.
I don’t get it. What is wrong with these women who hook up with some monster who brutalizes their children? She should have shot the SOB the first time he hurt her son.

Well that's one expensive court case and prison sentence we won't have to pay for.

Don’t put your faith in Poorly worded headlines. Read the story. It was the boy who was found dead; not the man charged.

Unfortunately it’s just a very poorly written headline. No wonder the papers are going broke...the man arrested wasn’t found dead, just the boy. Nothing in the story suggests the accused has died.

Looks to me like this is a terrible title. Aftyer reading the article it seems it refers to the boys death. Very sad.

Nope. It’s completely backwards. The boy was found dead. The man has been charged with assault, but not with his death (at least at this point in time...)

After reading the story I’m even more confused.

What am I missing here?
The headline is open to interpretation.
I take it and from the excerpt that the boy was found dead, and a 20 yr old has now been charged with abusing him, but not charged with his death.
I didn’t get that the perp was found dead.

Oh, rats! I thought it meant the thug was dead. I hope he and the mother spend the rest of their lives in prison.

The boy was found dead not the male who killed him
To: cripplecreek
Terrible headline, but seems about the time the boy’s body was found, a charge was made against an alleged perp but for prior abuse of the boy, not his death.
That doesn’t mean he won’t still be charged with the death.
Remain to be seen, I guess.

I say hand him over to tribal authorities and let them deal with it.
I remember a case a few yeas back near Traverse City where an indian had raped and murdered a child. He turned himself in to the state police because he didn’t want the tribe to get him.
