Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has married her long-time partner Heather Poe, The Daily Caller has learned.
Cheney spokeswoman Kara Ahern confirmed to TheDC that the couple married Friday morning in Washington, D.C.
In a statement provided to TheDC, both the former vice president and his wife, Lynne, said they are “delighted” the couple could have their “relationship recognized.”
“Our daughter Mary and her long time partner, Heather Poe, were married today in Washington, DC,” the Cheneys said.
Poe and Mary Cheney have two children: Cheney gave birth to a son in 2007, and a daughter in 2009. They live together in Virginia.
“Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized,” the Cheneys said. “Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness.”
“We are all so happy for Heather and Mary and their beautiful kids,” friend and former Cheney adviser Mary Matalin told TheDC. “Happy and moved by the blessing of their commitment and strength.”

The Cheneys are happy that their daughter is happy and safe and at peace and obviously came to terms with her differences many years ago, and to understand that she is an adult, makes her own choices, and has her own relationship with God
By embracing their daughter, they have the chance to know their grandchildren and be a light to them

You are so right. Cheney is idolized by the right for being tough and articulate. He’s good on defense issues, the economy, and on bashing the Dems.
But he is terrible on social issues. He has an elitist Republican attitude, as you say, about those backwoods Bible-thumpers. He has rarely mentioned abortion, as far as I can recall. He doesn’t care if the Dems and their liberal courts and bureaucrats run roughshod over the institution of marriage and our religious freedoms.
Just curious, are you in favor of homosexual marriage? Polygamy? A man and his sheep?
Should any couple “in love” be legally entitled to force the rest of us to recognize their union, and force us to hire and business with them?

Mary and her ‘partner’ are not now nor will they ever be ‘married’ as pretending that the deviant relationship is a marriage, doesn't make it so.
You are absolutely correct in all areas. Mary Chaney had 2 illegitimate, out-of-wedlock bastard children by some self-gratifying masturbator, she is a single unwed mother, and Heather will never be a legitimate parent of these 2 poor, sure-to-be confused kids.
And the 2nd point you are absolutely correct on, is that is not a marriage in any sense of word, but especially not according to the Bible. Marriage is defined as one man & one woman coming together in marriage, ordained by God as a covenant between God, the husband and the wife. The Bible clearly defines marriage in Gen 2, Matt 7, Eph 5 & 6, Colossians 3, Titus 3, and other passages. Under the Chaney's perverted definition of marriage, she could have been marrying her pet rock and declared to be in a committed relationship to that. Way to go Dick Chaney. You will be held accountable for this blasphemy some day, along with your wife, your daughter, and her illegitimate perverted partner.

It sure took a long time before someone finally spoke up for the kids. Every child has a right to both a mother and a father. These two children were deliberately deprived of that right. Their “mothers” can call themselves married or whatever else they want, but they cannot rectify the evil they have done against innocent human lives. That is what makes this situation shameful.
