Senator John McCain urged military air strikes on Syria Thursday, saying the U.S. cant afford to be standing by, watching a massacre.
While opposing the use of U.S. ground troops, the Arizona senator said the U.S. should give weapons to the Syrian rebels and establish sanctuaries in the war-torn country that would be protected by allied air power.
For the United States to stand by and for the president of the United States not to say a word on behalf of these people is shameful, McCain said at a Bloomberg Government conference in Washington on defense strategy.
With Iran aiding the Syrian government and Russia providing weapons to the regime, its not a fair fight, McCain, the senior Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said. Here we are, standing by, watching a massacre go on.

I spoke to a Syrian friend of mine last evening who is in regular touch with her relatives in that country. She said that our government has no idea what is going on, and that as usual they’re picking the wrong side. While there are no ‘good guys’ in this fight, siding with the “rebels” (read, Islamists) will result in complete disaster for the Christians in Syria.
So, it looks like McCain is wrong again.
I asked her what she thought was going to happen, and she predicts that Assad will be gone in a few months and be replaced by a government of Muslim extremists. Like most Arab Christians, she has no delusions about the “Arab Spring.”
Many in the U.S. are war-weary. It’s easy for politicians to suggest war to other families when their own sons and daughters are not having to deploy multiple times. What about North Korea? They massacre their citizens every day.
When the uprising began in Egypt the Muslim Brotherhood claimed they had no interest in government power. Today less than 2 years later, they’re gathered in the square by the hundreds of thousands demanding that their MB government be seated.
I’ve started watching the BBC in the mornings because I can get better global news.
All one needs to do to know what the plans for a global caliphate are is read the Hamas Covenant. Its widely accepted as the model constitution of a Muslim Brotherhood led Caliphate.

No No a thousand times no..... we are not the worlds policemen, our country is not threatened by this revolution, we have no business sending our boys to die in a foreign country restricted of the means to defend themselves....
and if you think fubo is gonna send people in there weapons free, look at his record, look at the generals and admirals records, look at afghanistan....
sending our fine young men and women into a war zone with bullseyes painted on their uniforms, with rules of engagement that damn near prohibit them from defending themselves, risking prosecution if they do, just don’t cut it..
Has Leslie Graham say me too yet?
Buy yourself a Cessna, hook up a bomb and do it yourself, McLame. Globalist hack.
The U.S. is already assisting the Islamist “rebels” through the CIA. We are just debating the degree of involvement.
1 Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city,
And it will be a ruinous heap.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken;[a]
They will be for flocks
Which lie down, and no one will make them afraid.
3 The fortress also will cease from Ephraim,
The kingdom from Damascus,
And the remnant of Syria;
They will be as the glory of the children of Israel,
Says the Lord of hosts.
Prophecy being fulfilled? If Damascus is still standing at the end ...no. If not, start to truly look up. Damascus is considered the worlds longest existing city, prophecy says it is to be destroyed. And flocks will lie down there with no fear (too contaminated for man to be there?).
The is a lot of “noise” being made over Syria. Read the end of Chapter 17. We will retreat from Syria, along with the coalition/UN, and Syria will cease to exist.
We don't know how long this Syria matter will go on, but we do know the ultimate outcome.
Keep in mind that the rebels are affiliated with al Queda and the Muslim Brotherhood, and persecute the Syrian Christian population, who Assad has been protecting from the Islamists.
We need to stay out. There are no good guys there 9except the Christians caught in the middle).
I don’t think we should keep the oil off the open market but I do agree that we should do something differently.
Maybe form a competitor cartel to OPEC made up of friendly western nations. Maybe make wholesale sales of American oil and gas tax free if sold in America.
We have not fought or won a war since WWII. when you are trying for Hearts and Minds you lose your ass. War is when you kill people and break things. We did not win the German or Jap hearts and minds we made them afraid we would wipe them out and burn their country. Once that was established we made new friends that respected our country.
We have lost all respect from tribal societies that don't understand anything but strength.
McCain - the ultimate Leftie Shill/Pawn masquerading as a Compassionate Conservative....oh wait, they’re one and the same.
There is no war McStain isn’t willing to jump in the middle of. How about we just stay out of it and let the Syrians duke it out and we recognize the winner. Its all bad in those countries anyway. You are going to get a strongman or the Muslim brotherhood. Lose and lose.
thanks
As far as the Middle East is concerned, the whole place could just disappear and I would be fine with that.
Besides, you could only Nuke them if the wind is blowing Northwest so Israel won't be harmed.
