...I happen to think states are key in this and in the healthcare. They need to push back. They are in the best position to challenge.....

More and more states are waking up to what has trickled down to them -- and they can't afford it. They are banding together to face-off against the federal monster that is trying to take over.

If Fascist-Communo Care isn’t struck down it is full blown Depression uncovered this time. Food stamps being the fig leaves.

Total shutdown of productive spending to the bare bone.

Go STATES!

Exactly right...

States created the federal government that is now turning around seeking to devour them.

So states band together and turn it back on this monstrosity.

The handwringing that all is lost because of the Republican party or because of Congress is uncalled for.

We should be winning everything that is for the Constitution but unfortunately our Republican Presidents are just as bad if not worse than the Democratic Presidents when picking Justices.

Hyperbole! Democrat presidents since JFK have not nominated anyone but far left justices.

GOP presidents are about 50-50, which is about what you can expect of a RINO.

Reagan is the only GOP president in my lifetime who has legitimate claim to being a conservative. And even he made some less than stellar selections.

It is only by the Grace of God and his affection for this country that we are blessed with Thomas, Scalia, Alito and Roberts.

Thank you. I’m quite proud of it. I think its a matter of respect for the other professions that i put only teachers in there.

“But if the Court ignores politics, and follows law and precedent and the Constitution and common sense, the Court will strike down the entire law.”

I wholeheartedly agree with you and appreciate your clarification on the severability clause.

“We want SCOTUS to rule against severability, right? That would mean the whole thing gets shot down?”

Yes, although 68% of SCOTUS experts think the mandate is severable—i.e., only 1/3 think the whole thing will get shot down. But 56% think the mandate will get axed. These experts have roughly a .600 batting average in predicting SCOTUS outcomes.

In contrast, at Intrade, betting is 80% that the mandate is going down.

Hyperbole!

What are you saying? You don’t have a problem with RINOs getting on the bench? I don’t care who it is. We get screwed everytime. I never saw a Democrat name a Justice and they turn conservative but Reagan, Bush I named Justices who became liberal. Maybe you don’t have a problem with it and find it hyperbole or whatever but I don’t.

I'd prefer not to have any David Souter types on the bench. But your statement that Republican Presidents are just as bad if not worse than the Democratic Presidents when picking Justices is hyperbolic.

Bush I appointed one excellent juastice (Thomas) to go along with the Souter disaster. Can you name me even one decent justice any Democrat president since JFK has appointed?

Didn't think so.

Recusals are not uncommon. We need more of them since the libs generally line up on one side of the case before it is even heard based on their past work on one side or the other.

That was the least surprising decision even if it shocked and dismayed many around these parts. The results have not worked out as most expected and now the Left is decrying the Super PACs which they blame for Walker’s victory in Ws. Hilarious stuff from every direction.

Since the spineless Republicans have no way to affect the Court’s deliberations you are looking for the impossible.

Even Thomas Jefferson could not affect the Court to his rage and mortification and he was a heck of a lot smarter than any of today’s politicians.

You are of course correct but the “thinking” you protest is becoming all to common around here.

We both know that the “New World Order” comment by GHW merely referred to the situation post-Soviet collapse wherein the old division into Communist/Non-Communist blocs was no longer applicable. Not some nefarious conspiracy against mankind.

If there are no criminal penalties attached to such lies, can the recipients of these medals sue in Civil Court for stealing value from their awards?

It is not accurate that the States “created” the federal government. They were explicitly removed from any ability to create or destroy the general government by Congress requiring that conventions of the American People be called WITHIN the states to write the new Constitution. Had the states ratified the resulting Constitution by a legislative action they could have unratified it later.
