Our daughter graduated with a BS in Biology this morning from the University of California at Santa Cruz. I did not see a single "Obama 2012" bumper sticker today -- not one!
We drove about 40 miles from home to the campus and saw many hundreds or thousands of cars on Highways 85, 17, and 1; the local Santa Cruz streets; throughout campus; in the campus parking structure; and in the parking lots on campus. We walked quite a distance on campus and didn't spot a single Obama sign on any buildings, bus shelters, housing units, dorms, or student bulletin boards. It was stunning.
Not only that, we saw only one crusty and faded Obama 2008 bumper sticker as well -- they've all been scraped off.
There's probably no hope of capturing California, but this sure is an encouraging sign. Huzzah!

Where in Portland? I haven’t seen even one so far. My wife works at the MAC and the number of Obama 2008 stickers we saw there was disgusting. So far though the 2012 variety seems to be pretty rare.
If he wins this time I think it’ll take a lot of work by his pet counting firm in Spain to come up with enough votes.
LOL...now I must admit that hadn’t occurred to me. Thanks for the insight.
I have to add that every time someone discovered that we were there from Wisconsin, we became celebrities. Everone wanted to know all about Scott Walker. Everyone wanted us to loan Scott to CA. We politely declined because Scott’s work is not finished in WI yet. We still need him.
I’m serious. I know of at least one party in a local Fresno watering hole where they were cheering and toasting Scott’s victory on June 5.
I see some cars here with the old 2008 stickers but they do not have new ones on them.
The bloom is off the rose so to speak!
I still see cars with Kerry stickers on them. :)
I’ve yet to see a SINGLE Obama 2012 bumper sticker. On the other hand, I also have yet to see a single Romney bumper sticker. Two weeks ago, I made a trip across three states (LA,TX,MS), and was keeping an eye out for any examples. None. Nada. Not even old Obama stickers. It was almost bizarre, considering all the miles I traveled. I did see two TP “Don’t Tread on Me” stickers, though.
Personally, I avoided bumper-stickers all my life. Never cared for them, and being in a Dem-voting county didn’t help, worrying they might lead to my car being keyed. But, in Jan/Feb 2009, I did put a “Sarah!” sticker on, and it has remained there ever since. If any PDS nutjob wants to start anything, I’m always ready; I keep a loaded revolver and shotgun in my car with me at all times.
Well, I see plenty here in Nashville, including a big 2012 Obama on the Prius I parked next to at the YMCA this morning. And I have only seen one Romney sticker in the wild so far. Of course, this being the Red State of Tennessee (thanks be to God) all these Obamaites are wasting their time, money, and bumper space. TN will deliver all its electoral votes to the GOP in November; it will not even be close. Still, it is annoying to see all this Obama crap on display.
I see them from time to time when I visit the SF East Bay area. Nearly always they are on cars driven by White senior citizens. Sigh. What a bunch of nutballs.
I guess they took four years to finally become transparent.
LOL...zing!
I see a few Obama 2012 bumper stickers around here in Vermont, but nowhere near as many as you saw last time around. His campaign is going full blast, but doesn’t seem to be taking hold. But it’s still a bit early in the year, maybe.
Congratulations. But sadly here in l.a. I see new Obama 2012 stickers every day. :(
I see Obama stickers daily, but I have yet to see my first Romney sticker.
Saw my first Romney sticker today, though! That was over in Lincoln City.
I too am seeing fewer Obama bumper stickers this time around. As for stickers for Romney - or any other Republican for that matter - I see very few. But I think there is a very practical reason for that. I don't want my car to be vandalized by rabid Obama supporters.
We drove through your area a couple weekends back for a wedding, going from Portland to McMinnville through Newberg, then back to Portland through Hillsboro and Beaverton. There were lots...far more than I see in Silicon Valley and over in Santa Cruz.
I’m seeing almost none in my part of Colorado either, namely Boulder County. Admittedly, I don’t go into that bastion of Communism, The City of Boulder, that often, but still ...
I live in a pretty liberal area. I see some, but it is not common. 4 years ago, it was Obama central. The level of excitement is very low this time. The base will probably show up, but only at about a 90% clip. Independents are not. The dude is toast, baring a massive economic turnaround (not at all likely), or a foreign issue that is a big win.
