Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election …

“If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind:

1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78

2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year

3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August

4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.

Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.

If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky….”

So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didn’t get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:

I hope that you are right. Almost anyone is better than Romney. I just think that from a practical standpoint, Romney will be the nominee.

I agree with you. I do think that this nation has abandoned God.

This nation needs a revival and an awakening. For myself, every time I turn to the flag, I find myself turning to God because that is the inspiration for our Founding. With education and a spiritual revival, ousting the left would be relatively easy.

If the winner got in on a 34% plurality, that would mean 64% of Americans, two out of three who voted, thought he stunk.

My dad, in the '50s and early '60s would find out how a union vote was going to play out. When it was likely to pass, he would then vote against it..."to help keep the corrupt union leadership from having a mandate."

I thought it was a very odd way of thinking at the time but have since learned the tremendous wisdom of it.

Cyanide has been used as a form of legal execution and is relatively humane compared to arsenic. Any sane person, if faced with such a decision, has an easy decision to make if these are his only two options.
