In Case You Don't Like Romney... A Challenge To Every FReeper

In Case You Don't Like Romney...
Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election
If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, Id just ask you to keep four things in mind:
1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78
2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year
3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August
4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.
Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.
If you dont think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think youre smokin something funky
.
So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didnt get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:
'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'
Did that get your attention!

I do know that Bambi has the most anti-Christian, anti-American, anti-freedom, anti-free market administration that I have ever known about. They are pure destruction. I wake up every day to a new outrage asking "how long oh Lord". I feel exactly the same way, dear Lakeshark. And I don't have any problem with your tagline.
Obama is very successfully constructing a "second reality" of America, based on systematic lying. Sane people cannot live in a culture of lies. Lies disorder souls. More to the point, systematic lying as a matter of public policy divides the people Christian against Christian, conservative against conservative. Which is what we see here. His Satanic Majesty Obama is succeeding in his plan to undermine and destroy the American public order, by using "divide and conquer" strategies group against group, invading even our Churches, thus dividing the Body of Christ, pitting brother against brother in acrimony and discord....
I cannot bear to live in a culture of lies. It is viscerally painful to me. Especially since the ultimate target of the lies is the very idea of the American Experiment and its order, which is premised on the idea that America is a nation under God.
And so I, too, pray and implore God: "How long, O Lord, how long? How long must I bear this??? Where is my relief???"
I actually think that America is now embroiled in the greatest spiritual crisis she has faced since the Civil War. And November 6th will be the day when we learn whether there are enough spiritually oriented people the remnant to overcome the materialist, passionate mob that Obama is inculcating as his trusty minions to help him overthrow the very idea of America and what she stands for: a public order premised in individual liberty and equal justice for all in short, a nation that can only stand "under God."
And yet there is a coterie of people who I have been used to regard as my friends who seem completely blind to what is happening to our nation, under the Obama Administration. It seems they prefer to engage in Quixote-style "tilting against windmills," or riding hobby horses of their own construction....
All such activities go only to the margin of the problems now facing us. This coterie seems not to know that the only way to "kill the snake" is to cut it off "at the head." (There is a Chinese proverb that goes, in effect, that to solve the one biggest problem is to solve many others into the bargain. That's a paraphrase.) It seems to me that they reflect only a sort of spiritual blindness which has been more or less self-imposed. (But why???)
At bottom, I truly believe there are only two types of human beings:
"All human beings live, consciously or unconsciously, in openness toward or in resistance to the ground of being."
The ground of Being is God Himself and His Order, which is His Eternal Word, Logos Alpha to Omega.
Obama and everything he stands for, and is trying to implement in our own country, stands in total resistance to the ground of Being. His "new god" and "new order" can only be built when "God is dead."
But the American Experiment lives in openness to that very ground, as the Declaration of Independence makes clear. America though she respects most if not all religious points of view (we do draw the line at and condemn such religious practices as infant sacrifice, for instance) and, as such, is "secular" in its approach to the foundations of the body politic has historically understood herself as having been constituted by We the People who understand themselves as living Under God.
Yet this is the very idea that Obama is trying to eradicate from the American consciousness and self-understanding.
Obama wants to destroy any such notion "root and branch." And he is succeeding.
We swim in a poisonous culture of deliberate, systematic lying against the truth that constitutes America. It is not only an attempt to falsify our Constitutional order and history; it is a direct attack on the psyche of individual Americans.
Lies only propagate more and more disorder. The disorder is increasingly evident to anybody with the eyes to see it.
But what of those who do not see it? Again, is this willful blindness, because this truth is so unbearable that it simply cannot be acknowledged? So we tilt at our windmills, and ride our hobby horses, thinking we're actually doing something to reverse the deadly trend being actively promoted by the White House in every action and policy prescription that it is systematically advancing against the American Idea and the well-being of American citizens?
These are the very people who see Mitt Romney as "the problem." Jeepers, it makes me wonder exactly what planet these people are living on....
Well, FWIW.
Thank you for your outstanding essay/post, dear Lakeshark. I subscibe to your insights without reservation.

Go harrass someone else Hey Noob (though I have a feeling that retread is your actual status), you've been pimping Romney all over this thread so don't try to pretend you aren't. I actually think that America is now embroiled in the greatest spiritual crisis she has faced since the Civil War. And November 6th will be the day when we learn whether there are enough spiritually oriented people the remnant to overcome the materialist, passionate mob that Obama is inculcating as his trusty minions to help him overthrow the very idea of America and what she stands for: a public order premised in individual liberty and equal justice for all in short, a nation that can only stand "under God."I for one do not believe that voting for Romney is a vote for standing up for the principles of a nation "Under God".
I believe that Romney is our test. At this point I have almost no belief that Obama will be re-elected. But for me and for a lot of us Conservative Christians we are more in fear of God than Obama, and I believe that Romney's nomination may be a test of the resolve of a remnant of Christians who are willing to stand up for their principles and even risk the possibility of another 4 more years of the curse of Obama rather than to surrender those principles and actually vote for a pro-homosexual, pro-abortion radical like Romney merely because we FEAR Obama.
What I do fear however is that the people of God will compromise their principles for a bowl of rancid stew. I suspect that no more than 1 or 2 percent of Republicans will actually vote for someone other than Romney. Romney will probably win. But he will not win with my vote. He's going to have to count on there being enough godless liberals and unprincipled conservatives who will vote for Romney out of fear of another 4 years of Obama.
God has already chosen our next president for us. We will vote accordingly.

Just because of your bigoted views of his religion? There's a LOT of that going around...
Questions put to Joseph Smith: "'Do you believe the Bible?' [Smith:]'If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do'. When asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119).
Joseph Smith: "for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (from Pearl of Great Price 1:12). "What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.270).
Brigham Young stated this repeatedly: "When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness" (Journal of Discourses 5:73); "The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God" (Journal of Discourses 8:171); "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (Journal of Discourses 8:199); "And who is there that acknowledges [God's] hand? ...You may wander east, west, north, and south, and you cannot find it in any church or government on the earth, except the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.24); "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity" (Journal of Discourses 10:230).
Orson Pratt proclaimed: "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent" (The Seer, p. 255).
Orson Pratt also said: "This
great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now" (
Journal of Discourses , vol.18, p.44) and: "But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be ...But there has been a long apostasy, during which the nations have been cursed with apostate churches in great abundance" (Journal of Discourses , 18:172).
President John Taylor stated: "Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.167); "Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom." (Journal of Discourses , 10:127).
James Talmage said: "A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ". (A Study of the Articles of Faith, p.182).
President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "Doctrines were corrupted, authority lost, and a false order of religion took the place of the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as it had been the case in former dispensations, and the people were left in spiritual darkness." (Doctrines of Salvation, p.266). "For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the place of salvation ...Joseph Smith declared that in the year 1820 the Lord revealed to him that all the 'Christian' churches were in error, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, p.282).
More recent statements by apostle Bruce McConkie are also very clear: "Apostasy was universal...And this darkness still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol 3, p.265); "Thus the signs of the times include the prevailing apostate darkness in the sects of Christendom and in the religious world in general" (The Millennial Messiah, p.403); "a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom" (Mormon Doctrine, p.132); "virtually all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit" (Mormon Doctrine, p.269); "Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (Mormon Doctrine, p.316).
President George Q. Cannon said: "After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon" (Gospel Truth, p.324).
President Wilford Woodruff stated: "the Gospel of modern Christendom shuts up the Lord, and stops all communication with Him. I want nothing to do with such a Gospel, I would rather prefer the Gospel of the dark ages, so called" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 2, p.196).

I have posited my theory that there are only 30 people on Free Republic who have a rabid hatred of Romney to the point that it has destroyed all reason. ~snip~
I now feel it is my duty to go through these posts and see if I can add any new names to my list, which now numbers 27.
I'm well aware that I've long been on most of the anti-FReeper "enemies lists" and that doesn't bother me one bit.
However, I do take issue with your position that anyone opposes a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, gun-grabbing, big government leftist because "all reason is destroyed." Any conservative with reason will oppose Romney.

Sounds like you at least acknowledge that either Romney or Obama will be the next president. You wake up the day after the election and turn on the news, who do YOU PREFER (even if its by a 0.000001% difference) they say is our next president? Mitt Romney or Barack Obama? It's extremely likely that one of the two will win. I take no joy in that whichever way it comes out, however, I can take great Joy in the fact that one of those two sorry ass candidates must lose and I can laugh at him.
John McCain is the last liberal I will ever have voted for, Palin is why. I'll never fall for that again, it doesn't matter who Romney chooses as running mate. I do not vote for liberals. Never again.
