Glenn Beck once said that leaving Fox News Channel, as he did in 2011, would earn him $40 million by allowing him to concentrate on his own web-based subscriber operation, GBTV.
Now The New York Times reports he has signed a $100 million contract for his radio shows to appear on Clear Channel Communications stations across the country.
The move puts the pressure on Rush Limbaugh, whose advertisers abandoned him earlier this year after he called a college student a "slut" because she supported contraception coverage in healthcare plans. The Times said:
Now carried by more than 400 stations, the show typically ranks No. 3 among all news-talk radio shows, behind Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, so the contract extension brings a measure of stability to local stations that carry it.
Limbaugh's contract is worth $200 million per year. Beck's is worth $100 million over five years.

I wonder how much of that will wind up in Utah.
Good for him but I won’t listen because he disses we birthers.
Too many lies in the excerpt to bother going for more.
What? Yea, kind of like a 12 year old little league pitcher put pressure on the Yankee's number one starter.
Not! Business Insider has become almost as big a liar as the NY Times.
Good for Glenn. Unlike the radio show, his GBTV is superb.
600+ to 400+ stations
$200,000,000 to 20,000,000 / year
To top it all off, Rush’s advertisers, save a stupid few, did not dump him. All in all, I would place my bet on Rush.
...at the very least; 10 per cent.
The day he made fun of the “birthers” was the day I quit watching his show. I’ll see clips from time to time, but will no longer make any effort at all to listen to anything he says ever again. It’s a shame because he was doing a good job of informing people until he got high on himself. Maybe I’ll watch again someday, there’s not a person in the world whose opinion I will pay to hear. (Well, maybe a doctor or lawyer, but unlikely, and certainly not for their opinion.)
Right, he probably missed a short putt just thinking about it.
Well, Limbaugh not have advertisers abandon him, net he gained, those that left in a sissy fit begged to come back and EIB said no.
Good for Beck, I just do not see why, he is certifiable, but what ever draws revenue.
I liked Beck when he started on Fox. But I predicted he would continue getting more and more conspiracy based until he fell into the "fringe" label. He did not dissappoint. I would have bet Beck to be a HUGE "Birther" and never understood, of all things, why he makes fun and dissmisses that issue.
I have never been able to stand his "silliness" sarcastic, ironic and cynical cartoon antics on the radio show. It's just not enough logical substance for me. I feel like it's 3rd grade Tee-Hee-ing and Grab-a$$ antics.
I'm glad Beck's doing well, however.
So Mr. Limbaugh, who makes twice as much in a year as Mr. Beck does in half a decade should somehow be worried? I was never very good at math, but c’mon!!
I do like the title of his new book...’COWARDS’.
Humblegunner,
Glenn Beck is NOT a Mormon. It was Mormonism that was there for him at the time he was an alcoholic. He did not convert to Mormonism. He is a believer.
How does Beck’s $20 mil a year put pressure on Limbaugh’s $200 mil per year?
Let's do some of that high level math called division.
Limbaugh = $200 million per year.
Beck = $100 million / 5 years = $20 million per year.
A nice little chunk of change, but not a lot of pressure on Rush. Also, many of these contracts are for the whole show and not for just the main host, so it pays for the studio, call screener, sidekicks, replacement hosts (lots and lots of those for Rush lately) and anything else it takes to run a show.
Uhh YES he IS a Morman! Get Your FACTs Straight!
According to the article, Limbaugh makes 10 times more than Beck.
$200 million per year v. $20 million per year.
Limbaugh's 10X greater.
