Forget Seamus, the Ryan budget or even the “War on Women.” Undecided female voters didn’t even mention some of the 2012 cycle’s most-hyped news topics in a pair of focus groups on Wednesday evening.
Walmart sponsored the 90-minute focus groups, which were organized by a bipartisan team of pollsters: Margie Omero of Momentum Analysis and Alex Bratty of Public Opinion Strategies. Moderators questioned two groups of “Walmart Moms” — self-described undecided voters who shop at the store at least one a month — in Richmond, Va., and Las Vegas.
It’s a surprisingly rare opportunity for inside-the-Beltway reporters to hear out undecided female voters at length. Even on the campaign trail, interviews often last a few minutes with the most quotable participants. Nonetheless, these women are exactly the fought-over voters for whom campaigns clamor in the final weeks of an election.
Here are a few takeaways from the questioning session:
1. Don’t underestimate the power of the first family’s image with female voters.

I empathize with your idea about restricting voting to people who are producers in our country. But, remember that many people get laid off, businesses goes bankrupt, personal tragedies happen (auto accidents, sickness, etc.) - all these people would have been in the workforce and paying taxes until these types of events happen.
If you lost your job tomorrow, should you be prevented from voting? Or, if you had some kind of debilitating illness and had been unemployed for several months while recovering - should you not be allowed to vote?
Maybe a case could be made for people who have NEVER worked or who haven’t paid taxes over a certain number of years - but, even that - you know how it would be portrayed in the media.
As I said, I like the sentiment, but I think it would be next to impossible, in this day and age, to ever get anything like that through congress, let alone signed by a president. But, I could be wrong if things get bad enough - who knows?

My wife says that letting women vote was a mistake. Regardless of being Liberated, they are wired to think in terms of being protected and having help with the children.As marriage becomes less common and less stable women look to government as the replacement of that institution.
Even Larry The Cable Guy makes frequent fun of WalMart shoppers.

Yeah, we know those photos are so representative of Wal-Mart shoppers. Jeez.
I am a conservative, in a conservative county. Yes, there are plenty of welfare moms in Wally World, but there are also many hardworking ladies(and men) trying to get the most for their dollar.
I resent being judged because I shop at Wal-Mart. It is clean and well-run and convenient.
As an aside, when I was laid off last year, I chose to stay home with my husband, so I guess I should not be voting?
Actually the Baraqqi Depression has squeezed a lot of folks out of WalMart and into Dollar General, Family Dollar, etc.
I think the seventeenth gives the nineteenth a good run for the money.

The weapon on that tiny lady is at a ruthless criminals disposal, she would be easily overpowered. This is inviting a dangerous situation.
I personally never want anyone to know I am armed.

The price per unit is still generally cheaper at WM but you can get smaller packages at $Gen. In some things WM has eliminated the cheaper versions and brands and carries only higher priced merchandise, like pots and pans, at least in the three WMs in my area.

I agree. Concealed carry is always a better deterrant. I’d also worry, if this lady slips on wet spot on the floor, and left her weapon off safety.........

I have two kids (daughter 12, son 10) and haven't played a round of golf since my daughter was born. If I ever do again, it'll be with my son, if he's interested.
I go out for "a night with the boys" about twice a year, after the kids are in bed. I go out to dinner with just the wife, maybe twice a year.
With all the appearances he really does have to make and the travel, legitimate travel, not fund-raisers, how on earth does he find time for golfing, basketball, smoking out back in the Rose Garden, etc.???

There was an interview, I think before the election, with Obama’s wife and daughters where they all three said he, Obama, smelled bad. So just how much time does he spend with family?
There are religious texts that say demons from hell have a distinctive stench?
The very fact that they are “undecided” says a lot. I’m betting almost all of them voted for Obama last time if they voted at all (those disinclined to think politics matter also tend not to vote).
One thing Obama has working for him that we haven’t seen since JFK is a younger family man with young children which projects well to a lot of women who vote based on which candidate has the “nicer” family or makes the “best couple”.
I know it seems shallow but I do believe many women vote based on who they’d rather have as their next door neighbor, not who they want leading the country. And since working women often see themselves as having no control of their economic fates, they are also attracted to the man who promises to give them things over the “rich” man who they see as keeping them from having what they desire.
I’m guessing most of these “undecideds” are Obama voters to begin with and the only reason they are undecided is because they know the economy sucks and just maybe having a new leader can change it, not that they think there’s anything wrong with the present leader.
I have a relative who works at Walmart. She has a bachelor’s degree and 2 years of law school, and a full-time job. She does cashier work at Walmart to help pay off her student debt and to save enough to go back to school. The stories she tells of the purchases made with those EBT cards.... She says that she can always tell when an EBT card will be used because of the way they just pile their stuff together on the register belt. She is always amazed that there is no effort made to put the goods in any sort of order. Makes sense, though, doesn’t it?
Also, there are some that she sees regularly. She says that they just wander around the store for hours and buy all kinds of dumb stuff.
I don’t really post much on my facebook but I do try to give notice every time Obama hits the golf course with a visual picture link. I think most of my “friends” are conservative but at least it gives a real time visual to people who are unaware just how many times he golfs. The more people that have a picture in their mind of Obama on the golf course and once again away from his family the more they will start to question the idea of him as a great parent and husband. Because entitlement voters are so invested in him as their fantasy husband or father of their children the overpowering urge is for them to defend him and vote for him regardless of how bad off they are under his policies. If they can start to see him for what he really is(a distant father and husband) the less they will feel the need to vote for him. Why do you think the media always has Trayvon holding a baby? They are making a visual of a innocent good son/big brother and it works! Why do you think they trot out Obamas daughters every time his poll numbers drop? Because it works!!
It depends on the location. There are Walmarts where Obama voters are the majority, and there are Walmarts in middle class neighborhoods. The later are clean and frequented by clean, non-smelly customers. Besides that, Walmart has good prices on ammo, and they do not object to customers carrying firearms.
I would much rather shop at Walmart than at Gay-Tar-Shay.
Something to keep in mind: The kind of women who give the kind of answers shown in this article aren't to be counted upon to come out and vote. To do so they would have to put down their Keystone Lite and pork rinds, turn off Judge Judy, and waddle down to the voting booth. They did it once out of enthusiasm for their messiah; they won't do it again because they aren't motivated.
